ANSWER - A LOT!

My son has a friend over this morning and I left them playing on their own downstairs for about 10 mins as I had a few things to do upstairs...
In that time
1) they broke a glass pear which had some plants inside when throwing cars
2) they helped themselves to advocaat from our drinks cabinet
3) my son ate some of his friend's grapes that were for later on today
4) they fed the rest of the grapes to our dog
5) they spilled water all over the carpet and sofa
6) They emptied the cat litter
AAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

:)) I feel with you.

On Shabbos, ds had a friend over. Maybe it was more than 10 minutes, but they managed to empty every single toy - Legos, Clics, puzzles, train set - out of its box and mix them all together so it took half an hour to sort them out. And turn the shower in the master bathroom on full force so it soaked the whole bath rug (luckily not hot water).

I"m laughing and crying for you. I watch 3 15-21 month olds at any given moment throughout the day. (4 kids, but not all together.. on purpose!!!) They get in to so much trouble! Favorite activity yesterday was garbage picking!!! GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and I don't keep anything in there except tissues)

..ten minutes is a lifetime for a three year old

I'm with Barbie - I'm both laughing and crying for you! How did you handle the mess and the kids and the dog all at the same time?

BTDT!!!

a few weeks ago we left ds playing quietly for a few minutes...

I came back to find him smeared with vaseline - all over!

It was quite a cleanup job!

When I was about the same age, my father let me out of his sight for a few minutes. Though I have no recollection of this event, I apparently coloured their newly painted walls with a Rebecca-Crayola masterpiece. Posted Image

When my brother was 1 and I was 4, it was right before Shabbos and my mother wanted to jump in the shower. My Bubbe a'h and Zaide a'h were on their way over. They only lived a few blocks away so she knew they would be there in literally a few seconds, so she asked me to watch my brother and she went to the shower.

Well I don't recall exactly what happened (I was only 4!), but somehow the marshmallow fluff had been left on the bottom shelf of the pantry (which was an open-front bookcase), and my brother opened it and proceeded to start eating, and body-painting himself with it.

I do know that my mother snapped a picture, put Bubbe in charge of me, gave Zaide a mop, and she ran to give my brother another bath... because Shabbos was coming.

DS managed to get to my blue eyeshadow powder in my make-up bag on Yomtov and made a HUGE mess on the bathroom floor, and all over some cream towels...and not that long ago, he got hold of toothpaste and talc - now that is not easy to clean off a wooden floor!!!!!

He just loves to make a mess - and gets up to all sorts of mischief, if left alone for even a minute!!

Oh my goodness!!!

I wish I could find the picture of my dd when she was three years old and playing "oh so quietly" in the playroom with our little toy fox terrier dog. She used her (thankfully washable) markers all over that pooch and boy was she excited about her colorful doggie when she was done!

When I was 4ish I locked myself in the downstairs bathroom with vaseline and A&D ointment and desitin (yes, I had a new baby brother), and shmeared it on EVERYTHING!!! I couldn't get out and cried until I was rescued! My mom saw the mess, took a few steps back, counted to 60 or so and walked away. :)

LOL It's always so much funnier when you are not the mom! Did they clean it up when they were done?

After Parshas Noach when I learned about the Mabul (flood) I tried making a flood too. I poured cups of water on the floor on the line where the rooms meet. (You know, where there is a metal piece between carpet and wood floor) I always thought there was a crack underneath. I was trying to get the water to drip downstairs. I was so proud of my "blood" but somehow the bigger ppl around weren't as proud...

Oh Jo!

What did you deal with first? I think I would have gone into a panic if my kids had got into the liquor.

My kids haven't ever done anything that dramatic (unless I'm blocking the memories) but we've had our share of drawing on the walls (usually on shabbat) and DS2 blocked the toilet on Rosh Hashana and flooded the bathroom trying to wash his potty on Tuesday (by filling and dumping the toilet water - yuck!)

I think next time I'll take a deep breath and count myself lucky!
