Besides the kashrus issue, there is a problem with kids swallowing flouride toothpaste because it can cause white spots to form on their teeth. I was given quite a lecture because my youngest likes the kids flouride toothpaste, and I thought he was spitting really well (he spits right after he sticks the toothbrush in his mouth, and frequently thereafter) but the hygienist still said it was no good, and he needed a non-flouride toddler one. (and he's the only kid who actually likes to brush - he probably does the best job of any of them, so I really don't want to upset him and turn him off of brushing by telling him he can't use the toothpaste the others use).

Flouride in toothpaste. I was told to use adult toothpaste for my toddler because the children toothpaste hasn't got enough flouride in it and the water here has no flouride. So you end up needing flouride drops which i would rather not give.
I found Colgate do a children's flouride toothpaste with more flouride than normal kids t/paste, but less than an adult t/paste.
I would teach to spit it out because eating flouride isn't so healthy.
