What should I give ds?? He just came from the dentist after have 4-5 fillings in only two teeth!! I brush and floss all the time...but I think it's just that he drinks way too much juice (the cavities were by the gum!!).

So - any suggestions food wise?

No, but hugs! Do you need food for the next 24 hours? Like pediasure shakes so he won't be hungry.. or "good for you food" so it won't happen again?

I have to give my kids watered down juice while they aren't looking so they don't know...

Some kids are just genetically predisposed to cavities--I have a friend who would never eat candy, brush and floss multiple times a day and still get cavities (I think you are friends with her mother). Just happens!

Ya - well - I can not avoid the 'try to stay away from' foods since he has an alter bubby who ladens him with nosh in huge pekele bags.

I need more 'for the now'. I don't think he can do the pediasure since I think it has sunflower oil in it and he's allergic.

You see, if it were 'me' I'd want ice-cream and chocolate milk with marshmallows - but he doesn't want a thing. He hasn't eaten in a long time because his teeth were bad. I just hope it doesn't still hurt like this for Shabbos!!

Maybe a strawberry soup? That's cold and has nutrients, and is just kinda cool...

What are his normal "likes" and "dislikes"?

I had no idea that pediasure has sunflower oil. hmmm... what about a regular milk shake and put in whatever he likes?

I took the kids to the dentist a few days ago. Dd, who brushes her teeth every day, has 7 cavities. While my boys, who only brush occasionally, have 1 and 3 cavities. It's genetic.

YK, is his mouth hurting? Is that why you're asking about what food to give him?

yes - he is uncomfortable and sore (although I don't know how he sat in that chair from 12 - 1:30pm!!). The dentist couldn't believe how good he was.

Now, his mouth is really sore...he may have bitten his cheeks when he was frozen.

Fillings generally do not hurt post-treatment. I just had a cavity filled at 12:30 and it's now 6 pm - no pain or discomfort.

However, I really can relate to gum soreness. Two weeks ago I had a tooth pulled and was unable to eat solids for quite some time. I made myself soup, had applesauce and other soft items. It might take him a bit longer to eat, but there is no reason why he has to be devoid of nutritious and delicious meals.

I hope he feels better!

The freezing made me feel so yucky (and probably also the fact that within an hour of the freezing wearing off, I got mastitis and was burning up with fever. I know there is no connection between dental fillings and that, but still I am pushing off my next dentist visit! At least, YK, your ds won't get that, LOL!)

probably the freezing!

I just think for his very first dental visit of his entire life it was not a great idea to fill four cavities right then and there. I don't know if he will want to ever go back again!

We settled on tuna with mayonaise (he kind of gummed at it at first) and then for dinner - tatty bought pizza and fries (he didn't want the fried...strange, but okay with me!).

But, on the happy side, tonight is his first 'sleep over' here. It got his mind off the pain...and everyone is sleeping so nicely (and quickly, I might add!!).

He went to school happily - made him french toast for breakfast and they have kugel and grape juice at school each Friday. He felt okay, but was really complaining of being 'itchy'. The part on his mouth where the dentist put on the piece that pried his mouth open is red - that hurts more than the teeth. The dentist didn't do a cleaning - he has to go back still
