I get the ramen bowls for dh's lunch. I give him one of those, some meat (either tiny meat balls, thinly sliced pepper steak, deli meat cut, shredded chicken or turkey) or tofu, and than some sauteed veggies. The ramen is more than enough carbs and all it needs is a veg and protein. He throws in the cooked add ins, the hot water from the water cooler, and he has a hearty hot lunch at work!

hmmm, we like the tradition soups in the cups, but The ramen bowls taste different and no one here liked them. I was curious because I was looking for an alternative to the tradition ones.

I loathe the regular Tradition ramen noodles - I think I previously posted my rant about how it's basically a heart attack in a bowl with tons of trans fats, sodium and MSG. However, to give them some credit, I recently found healthier versions at Kosher Club that are fat-free and low sodium.

Do you need an ice pack for this type of thing? It sounds like an easy lunch for me while teaching...

I wonder if they carry Tradition ramen at Safeway? (man oh man do I wish Costco carried Kosher ramen because it would be SO easy and then I'd be set!)

I admit that although I am usually totally all about the organic healthy choice items, I am completely missing the early college days from about ten years ago when I survived almost completely on those 12 cent packages of pure junkfood ramen noodles. It's just so warm and tasty in the middle of winter :yum Mmmmmm...ramen...perhaps Sunday's adventure will be to search for Tradition ramen :happydance

ZC- just saw your question. I prob. would put a small ice pack with the meat. Dh has a tiny fridge in his cubicle so I haven't had to worry. You could slice up tofu cubes really small and brown them up and add them in for it to be pareve also.

about chocolate chips - trader joes and safeway makes chocolate chips that are pareve and amazing. i'm starting to think they're all made by the same company since there are so many similarities, including the hechsher. but tj's is the cheapest - $1.69 for a 12oz bag.

Updates to the list, and bumping it up for Barbie:

Authentic green and red Thai curry pastes from Taste of Asia (imported from Israel, available in Thornhill at No Frills)
Coconut liquid from Taste of Asia
Rice vinegar from Taste of Asia
Toasted sesame oil from Taste of Asia
new VH sauces in Thai and Indian flavours (just watch the fat and sodium content)
Pestos from Sunflower Kitchen, available at Planet Organic
chutney from New World, available at various organic places
Dried herbs and spices from Pereg (imported by No Frills and Sobeys)
President's Choice Decadent chocolate chips (available at No Frills. Unlike the cookies, the chocolate chips are parev)
Kedem Merlot cooking wine (love it, but haven't been able to find it at No Frills for the past few weeks)
Dragonura Thai chili sauce
14-spce curry mix in grinder, from Cape Spice Company (imported from South Africa, sold at some organic places)
French's Deli Mustard (available everywhere, great in a chicken marinade)
Nativa Organics, esp. the nacho chips (available at Shoppers' Drug Mart)

Forgetting the brand but I think its like ancient harvest has an OU now on the quinoa. I grind it and make quinoa flour.
Trader Joes here has corn tortillas that are really yummy and are pretty much just corn, water, lime juice, salt

The PC Decadent Chocolate Chips are the best plain dark chocolate I've found in Toronto - way too good to waste on cookies! I eat them right out of the bag.

American stuff - Trader Joes spices and seasonings. We like the 21 Seasoning Salute, and the Poultry and Barbeque/Grill spice mixes.
Costco have another dark choc chip -- forget the brand which is imo better than PC and they are mini chips.
