This Friday night I am having 7 adults and 1 toddler (who can eat 1/4 of a chicken). Is 2 chickens enough? How muchdo you think I should make? |

depends on how much sides you will have. if you are having alot- then 2 should be ok (though i would probably do 3 and have left overs) |

I always make more than I need, and have loads of leftovers. I would make 3, but make one pretty plain, and the others with a definite flavour or sauce, so there is choice. Also, if you can make one that can be eaten cold, you can always use the extras for shabbos lunch. |

I think I'd make 2 and then throw in some extra thighs or something just in case. |

This is what I would do too because unless it's soup, so much of the chicken goes uneaten (at least in my picky family where we are grossed out about eating the neck etc...) And chicken leftovers can be used in SO many different ways of course - chicken stir fry and chicken pot pie are our favorite leftover dinners. How are you preparing the chicken? |

i defrosted a third. I get frozen chickens cut into 1/4 so i cant just do a few thighs. anyway bottoms are really expensive here. I think im going to do 1/5 garlic and 1.5 oven fried, but im not sure cuz they are very similar because both are breaded, so i might do 1 garlic, 1 oven fried and the 3rd with a sauce, any ideas? i am also serving fish and dips, salad with mandarins and sugared pecans and couscous salad, soup maybe with kneidlach, chicken, potato kugel, sweet lukshen kugel and hopefully store bought cake and ice cream for dessert... |

Tomorrow's menu 1) possibly fish 2) liver and maybe eggs 3) grilled chicken salad (chicken and dressing are made) coucous salad cholent bought kishke sil is making deli roll potato kugel in the cholent also store bought ice cream and cake, maybe the same, maybe diff (do you think i need another kugel?) |

Oh my gosh that all sounds super yummy! I love reading this thread because I'm aways looking for big shabbos ideas when hosting. I would say make an extra kugel if you can - better to have too much than not enough. You have a potato kugel and a sweet lokshen kugel...what about a Yerushalmi kugel? Those are usually fairly easy to throw together (once the sugar carmelizes...that always takes forever on my stove!) |

I definitely think 2 chickens would've been enough. 4 breasts 4 thighs 4 legs Usually breasts are quite large and it's not crazy to cut them in half. I'm assuming that chicken isn't the only thing you're serving. |
