I find that I cannot get motivated to clean, particularly for pesach(!) unless I have some music on. Right now I'm listening to Shmais Radio. It's chabadradio, but the songs are not chassidish, per se. Lots of great Jewish music.

If you do listen to music, what sort of music do you prefer to clean to? I need upbeat!

Well, I tend not to feel like I can put the music on when dh is working, or after the kids go to bed.
DH listens to Shmais sometimes, so maybe there is a way I can tune to that too, so I'm not disturbing him.
For erev shabbos, when I'm need something to get me energised, I put on shabbos zemiros - that gets me in the mood.
Last motzei Shabbos, when I knew I had to get all the shabbos dishes done, I put on a shiur, and that helped to focus on something other than the chore!

Hmm, maybe I should put something up-beat on while I do the refrigerator?

I love listening to shabbos zemirot! But it has to be before DH comes home because he doesn't like listening to those sorts of songs on DVD - he'd rather hear it live.

I haven't listened to an audio shiur in ages. What a bad Jew. I should download a bunch from Yeshiva University and listen to them while I go for walks. That's what I used to do. When DH and I went on a trip, I had to erase so many shiurim from my I-Pod in order to make room for travel music. Now it's time to the opposite :).

Back to the kitchen I go.

While I'm working I usually listen to JM in the AM Live stream, but not while I'm in the kitchen.

Wow, I grew up listening to Jm in the AM on the way to school every morning! He now has a 24/7 stream, and the songs are actually pretty good! (I happen to think he has a better selection then shmais.com does)
There are links on top to listen to the live stream. The broadband link is the clearest one, but they all play the same music.

That's because it's music from the NYC area. I'm in Toronto. :)

I miss Five Towns Radio. I don't have internet or a cd player in the kitchen, so I listen to either the news or talk radio.

I also used to listen to fivetownsradio. Whatever happened to it?

I keep a CD player in the kitchen because that is my #1 place for listening to music. Nothing like peeling off the skin to a chicken while singing to my favourite songs.

Well, I told dh about jmintheam.org, and he just went to the site and started listening - and boy was it different to his usual taste in music!
He's still listening, and he's prepared to give it a bit of a try.
We'll see!

jellybean - dh just found the website for olamradia - he says like it looks more like his taste in music.
thanks!
I'm so pleased for him that he is making the switch to working to Jewish music so I'll do whatever I can to support him.
