UTMJ - my mother learned to cook from my grandmother, who learned to cook from her mother - the Hungarian immigrant who ran a kosher hotel. I think I'm destined to always have too much food. I rarely have just the right amount for any meal, even weekdays (except when I make scrambled eggs, or pancakes, which the kids will devour!). And shabbos and yom tov is just a given - there will be way more food than we need, and I'll be eating leftovers all week. I think we just about finished the yom tov food, except that which I froze, and I turned some of the leftovers into tonight's supper, which we pretty-much finished. But, I'm already worrying about whether I've defrosted enough meat for second days, and we only have guests for one meal (so far). I'm just resigned to the fact that I will make too much food, or too many dishes, and I'm glad I don't mind eating leftovers myself!

I don't know about Hungarians, but my husband is Russian, so I know that the same "disease" affects them too LOL.

He always asks me if we have enough food, and I'm the one who needs to calm him down. Needless to say, we still always have too much.

I have way too much food. I cooked on Chol Hamoed, but that was just to supplement whatever was in the fridge. I made too many loaves of fish and froze them, so I don't even have to make fish for the 2nd days.

We are not Hungarian but dh keeps telling me I make too much. Not that he's really complaining. I keep seeing his head in the fridge. LOL

Baruch Hashem!
I feel like I'm in the home straight - most of the food is cooked and prepared for the last days (1 roast to cook as needed, and some vegetables to chop for salads if we need them).
Having got through chol hamoed with the kids all home, I feel good to know that we all got through relatively sanely. And my kids surprised me by going above an beyond with their erev-shabbos tidying chores.
And, despite spending most of the day on my feet, I'm Baruch Hashem, feeling really good - a good tired, not a sick, exhausted, tired.
It's been a good day!

I'm pretty much done. Except the zucchini kugel didn't turn out the way I expected. It fell (as in a souffle, not on the floor :)) and now I'm seeing water. I can't put it back in the oven b/c the chicken is in there. So it's on the stovetop on a small fire.
