That's pretty! I see the cable, but the other pattern is hard to see. I'm going to download it to see if I can make out the pattern.

It looks like a type of double cable with maybe a yarn over in the middle.

yeah? I have NO idea. My friend said she thinks the cable is an Irish Hiking pattern but we can't figure out that inside bit.

The cable is a regular cable stitch. I don't know what an Irish Hiking pattern is.

It's the proximity between the cables that makes it the Irish Hiking Pattern. However, for a typical one, you'd have 3 or 4 knit stitches in between instead of that other thing.

Most of the original cable patterns are from Ireland- from the fishermen- Aran sweaters. I love cables. They are so pretty.

They are beautiful, which is why I"m so excited to get started, but I really dislike all the knitting patterns I've seen with knit in between. I want something more fun.

I"m working on 2 projects right now. A scarf upstairs (two projects so I don't have to bring stuff up and down) and a baby blanket for my niece downstairs. I had made one 9 months ago, but when I was 2 inches from finishing it, my cat peed on it. SOOOOOOO, I had to start all over, which is frustrating bc I am bored to tears with this pattern. But I need about 6 or 7 more inches to go, which in theory should be roughly a week, but it's taking much longer bc I can't find the time to even an inch a day. The scarf is that fun fur stuff and also a strand of grey so it's easier to knit.

I finished my scarf when dd had her shoulder surgery. The nurses kept asking me if I would give it to them. :ha It's really warm. I used this yarn-

Fun! that's similar to the fun fur I"m using. I went to a knitting expo and got $120ish worth of yard for $30. :)

It's funny... I've been knitting for years, but only really do basic stitches. I *assumed* that this funky one would be easy and obvious to seasoned knitters. I thought it was the ___ pattern and anyone could should me. I had no idea that no one has a clue and I've asked maybe 10 people, who have then turned and asked 10 more... I wish the maker of that blanket would write back, but no luck so far.

I think I got it! I found the pattern and think I can follow it. In my head, anyway... if I can sit down and translate it onto yarn, I'll be impressed..
