What are you planning for Shabbos/Tu B'Shvat?
I'm aiming for all the shivat haminim (seven species of Israel), plus as much fruity stuff as I can into the menu.
So far, I have:
Kiddush - grapes (maybe we'll open real wine?)
Challah - wheat

Chicken soup - I'll add barley

Chicken - with apples and honey (fruit and honey, although I know it's supposed to be date honey, so if I find a small container I'll do it with that)
Kugel - probably noodles with raisins (wheat and grapes, again)
Roast potatoes with olive oil
Roast zuchinni and mushrooms with olive oil
Green beans with olive oil (do we see a theme here - shemen zayit!)

Dessert - not sure yet - either oatmeal-raisin-cranberry cookie bars, or just bought cake, served with fresh fruit.

We'll get the pomegranate in with pomegranate juice to drink (note to Cdns, the PC brand pomegranate drink with the OU is really good and not too expensive as these things go. Think it has blackcurrant as the other main fruit flavour).
Not sure about figs - none of the rest of the family really likes them, I think.

Shabbos lunch will be leftovers with cholent, I think - more barley!

We're doing a pot luck lunch. I'm making a turkey breast with craisins, almonds and pineapples. A tomato salad with olives and pine nuts and a peach cobbler. Someone else is making pasta cooked in wine.

In addition to there being wine to drink, someeone else will be bringing an assortment of nuts and dried fruit.

So far all I've decided on is pomegranate chicken and stuffed dates. I'm open to suggestions.

The PC pomegranate juice doesn't have an OU on anymore :(

There's another blend that does, though, I thought? Maybe I'm confusing them, but I definitely found one of them at Rosh Hashana time, when I discovered the other one I liked no longer had a hechsher.
Better go look again.
