No Frills in Thornhill got in a big shipment of Marvid chicken (instead of the usual Chai), and the prices are awesome! Around $13.89/kg for boneless skinless chicken breasts, and $6.89/kg for chicken thighs - MUCH lower than the Chai prices.

They'd also got Gefen tuna can for $.95.

Wow! Even cheaper than the sale they had before Purim on the Chai!
I won't tell dh about the tuna, though. He bought about 6 cans last night at $1.19. He wasn't looking specifically for KLP, but this was the cheapest they had with a hechsher!

Interesting. I do find the Marvid are yellower - more like the chicken we got in the US, whilst the Chai are more like the English ones in colour. Subtle differences.
Around this time of year (or around any yom tov) both Chai and Marvid are filthy - so many feathers and so much fat to trim!
Thinking back - the chicken I stocked up on at No Frills was regular cut chickens. I figured I'd do without the fancy cuts this year, because they've been so expensive recently. This is a much more reasonable price, and with the time pressure of cooking on erev Pesach (no, I won't have my kitchen kashered before the last shabbos), it will save a lot of time cleaning/skinning chicken pieces, which I'm sure my sous-chefs (aka dh and dd!) will appreciate!

I missed the sale! I was there this morning and they have mostly Chai again - guess we're having regular cut-up chicken at the seder, instead of the boneless-skinless, unless I happen to catch a good sale at Sobeys. But, I did get Chai cut chickens for 5.49/kg, which is a really good price!
