I love dairy and so the 9 days are not a problem. I have more meal ideas than meals. OK so hate me. Yesterday we had moroccan flounder (actually left over from shabbos). Today we had lasagne. Tomorrow it's either sushi or quiche, Thursday is always pizza, and that's the week. Sunday is probably salmon and some sort of pasta dish for before the fast.

My house is that crazy one that we all eat different things. Big reason is that I cook on Sundays for the week for everyone. If 1 wants wacky mac, she can take a portion any time she wants. I also cook food that isn't really kid friendly for us and don't expect them to eat it.
It's bad, I know!

Estie, Tisha B'Av is Tuesday, not Monday. You're missing a supper there.

UTMJ; I thought this year is good for Sephardim - you only have two meatless days before Tisha B'Av.

not really. The pasta for before the fast was meant to be Monday. I also was thinking about having falafel one night.

We ended up with the salmon today, it came out really good.

When the kids were little I made soy hot dogs - they were pretty good.

I keep forgetting I can do soy for the kids now!
I was going to make eggs and fries with salad for tonight, but then I discovered we were out of both the eggs and the fries so I made frozen pizza instead :(
I'm really, really hoping to get to the supermarket tomorrow, and then I'll find some good stuff for the kids for the rest of the 9 days.

I ended up making quesadillas tonight. We needed easy and calm. The kids had pasta. Everyone was zonked from the little two getting tubes and Mo getting scoped. Not what I planned but I went with the flow.

Trying to think of some new ideas for this year.
Everyone except me can eat dairy.
Two of us can't do tomato, nuts/peanuts and soy protein.
One of us is a toddler with very few teeth, so nothing too hard to chew.
We are doing a fish trial, so for now we are eating fish (but I need some fish-free ideas for later in the week, in case we discover baby is allergic to fish).

Oh, and it's really hot, so dh would prefer I didn't run the stove for too long!

I keep finding recipes with tomato or dairy, or both. I don't mind recipes with dairy, as long as it's fairly easy to sub non-dairy options for one portion (eg cheese on side, or melted on top).

Someone inspire me, please!

So I stocked up big time on daiya.

Tonight its simple pasta with veg, daiya melted. No tomato. Dh and I are having fish later tonight with ours.

Tomorrow we are at Hopkins to see Dr. W. YAY- Mo got into the EE study as well. So, I am making homemade sushi rolls for lunch in the car and have daiya mac & cheese with tofu nuggets for a picnic dinner before we head home.

Wed. we are making homemade pick your own topping pizza. No tomato for dh and instead white sauce.

Thurs kids are having quesadillas (sp?) with avocado and toffuti sour cream to dip in. We will either have the same or pareve fettichini alfredo with salmon.

Sunday I am doing daiya grilled cheese and tomato soup.

Monday pre-fast we are having veg. chili.

Now, if Dr. W approves Mo to trial peas, he will eat with us and tomato soup will become split pea soup. If we don't get it approved... he said no food trials but that was about Mo's EE triggers. Pea is the only IgE allergy he has, he will be having fleish. He has to many restrictions- no dairy, soy, nuts, fish, eggs, and a number of other things.

Thanks for the ideas - sounds like many of you have really expanded your diets since last year!

Supermarket only has the pepperjack daiya, and I find it very spicy. But, tonight I'm making a pasta sauce with lots of veggies, and will take out a portion for baby and me before I add the tomatoes, and add cheese for the baby and daiya for me. Everyone else will have the tomato-veggie sauce with grated cheese.

No-one here wants soup when it's so hot, which is a pity, because I have a lot of filling parev soup recipes that are good for us all!

If I do separate meals for big kids, baby, and dh and I, then we have more options, because big kids can have soy foods like nuggets, baby can eat whatever I want to feed her, although I didn't ask a shaila to actually feed her meat/chicken because if the fish works she has enough. DH I can make something he likes, and I guess I'll eat leftovers or pasta and beans. If I feel that I'm getting weak, I'll probably get a hetter for poultry again, especially because I'm still nursing. I'm trying not to have egg-based dishes too often, but I guess I'll do omelettes one night and a dairy kugel for everyone except me one day (anyone have an easy recipe to share?). Also, kids have cheese at lunch time most days, so I'm trying to avoid too much milk/cheese in the evenings.

1- I"m going to make manicoti stuffed with creamed spinach, baked in tomato sauce/cheese/daya depending on who its for. a salad will be a nice side dish for that.

2- vegetable cheese calzones, garlic knots

3- macaroni and cheese

whenever my mother makes fish she will make a portion for my husband and I'll serve my daughter chicken that night

bnm- 1 stick of safe marg, 1/4 c safe flour. Melt marg and add in the flour. Cook for a min. Add in 6 C of safe milk slowly. Add in a box of pasta. Cover and simmer. stir every few mins. Let it cook down so its creamy not watery and the pasta is cooked. Take off heat. Add in a bag of daiya. Salt to taste.

For fancy the other week I made it with spinach noodles and the mozz. daiya instead of reg. noodles and cheder. My kids actually like it with the pepperjack under chili. LOL

I wish you lived closer npl- they are uber stocked at our whole foods this week.

The middle two haven't had any changes since Denver but Mo has a lot less foods cause of the EE diet he is on. UGH. I have more options cause Mo is not nursing anymore and I passed my PN challenge.

I also want to make calzones which you could do with white sauce as well.
