I am putting up a veg. chili with noodles. I have daiya "cheese" and toffuti sour cream to go with it in addition to caramelized onions. My husband and I have never fasted so well since we started doing this before the Tisha B'av fast. Not sure what to do about the eggs cause can't cook them. Usually I borrow for dh but this year I can have as well but Mo has been extra hard to deal with when it comes to things he can't have. Bread and ashes I already have put aside. Post fast I will have Tev's birthday cake and OJ to break on. Depending on how people feel will depend on what I heat up. Either leftover chili or leftover pasta from tonight for dh and myself. The kids will have pareve pizza before we break. I kind of just want bagels, scrambled eggs, and OJ personally. Edited by zuncompany, Aug 7 2011, 07:32 PM.

What are you preparing? I am praying I don't have to break shiurim (sp??). Between the doc and Rav they decided it was necc. this year for me. UGH. I am praying its not as tough as we predict. |

Nothing special on either end. We generally don't make a big deal out of post fasts.. I know there are generally lots of bagel parties but whatever we find in the fridge will be just fine. |

am planning on making Rukut krumply- a potato, eggs, sour cream/mayo dish and maybe some sesame noodles on the side. My mother is making a huge batch of bean soup so we will have some of that too. I need to buy some watermelon and grapes. am drinking Vitamin Water the past few days, a tip I picked up from you. since I started doing it I'm fasting a lot easier. |

High-fibre pasta with veggies, spinach, salmon and evaporated milk (tastes bettter than it sounds, and sits like a rock in the stomach for ages) Post-fast, I'm think of roast chicken with potatoes and veggies. |

I'm thinking lasagna and a potato leek soup for tonight. Maybe some calzones too. This way we have leftovers for post fast. I usually feel worse after I eat so I try to eat very little after! Chugging powerade also since shabbos! |

DH and kids will have fish, DH and I will have whole-wheat pasta, kids will have regular pasta, and anyone who wants will have beans. I'll make some frozen veggies, too. I'm making extra for the kids to eat tomorrow night. DH usually prefers a bowl of cereal or something light like that. I drink powerade and eat something simple like leftover pasta. I plan for not being able to prepare any food, in case I'm not fasting well enough. I'm drinking the powerade, but getting overheated waiting in the car hasn't helped, and neither has nursing a crying baby all night. Trying to eat sensibly to store energy for the fast. I'm making quinoa, too - mostly for me, but there will be enough for the others, if they want. Edited by npl, Aug 8 2011, 02:52 PM.

Mazal tov, Estie! A break-the-fast bris seuda is very special - we made one for ds1 who had his bris on Yom Kippur. But, it's very tiring for the mother of the baby - even if she hasn't fasted, it's late at night after a difficult day. |

They are having it catered in a shul so hopefully SIL won't be working too hard, and it's not Yom Kippur so she can eat normally. They also hired a baby nurse. But it is very nice news and certainly interesting. |

DH is so sweet. All day all I have wanted was a bagel and eggs so he ran out an hour ago and picked me up some bagels. 10 more mins and all I have needed is 2 1oz shots of OJ. YAHOO. |

B"H, with 30 mins to go, I'm sitting upright, no significant headache, and totally "with it". Previous fasts I've been near to passing out long before this. I'm not even psychologically hungry at the moment. I did get to lie down for an hour or so in bed, and spent as much time as possible lying down on the sofa, but my day was quite eventful and I was quite worried about making it through, especially as I was feeling unwell yesterday, and dd2 has been nursing very frequently at night. Real hakaras hatov to Zun for the advice to drink powerade, and to JRKMommy for the idea to eat whole wheat pasta before the fast. |
