What are you all making for your kids to eat on Yom Kippur this year? I still haven't organized anyone to take the oldest 3 to shul, but even if I do, the 2 oldest won't be in programs, so I'll need to send snacks with them. If ds2 goes, he'll theoretically get sandwiches in groups, but I'm not sure how it will work out this year. Then, I'll need lunch and supper that they can take themselves. Feeling very disorganized this year! |

So, for my kids I make things that they can access easily and are cold. I make loads of extra fried kreplach, deli meat, challah, chips and salsa, fruit, cut veg like baby carrots. I also went with a friend yesterday and we got mike n ikes, dum dums, and ring pops to bribe them with. She and I will be with our kids in the kids room for most of the day YK this year. We made loads of games for them and if other kids come they as well can use those. We decided not to make a formal program though and bring our own foods for the kids. |

fried gefilte, cholent, salad... but most likely kids will opt for cereal and milk for lunch and dinner ;) I'm hoping to get someone to take oldest 4 to shul for 2 hrs and take a nap with the baby meanwhile. Otherwise it will be me and kids... |

Breakfast is the usual..."Shabbat" yogurt (fruit vs. plain) and cereal. Snack is a piece of fruit (or a handful of raisins) and cheese "fingers". Lunch will be rolls, ring schnitzels (think like onion rings), and carrot sticks. Afternoon snack is going to be the junk-y stuff they usually get at the shul shiur (which there isn't one this week, so I bought a bag) and crackers. Supper (probably in the shul lobby during neilah) is hard boiled eggs & bourekas. The only meal I've given absolutely no thought to is their supper tonight, but I'm pretty sure I'm pulling YT leftovers out of the freezer for myself for my "seudat mafseket" (if I can eat anything...I've been sick for 2 days), so they can have some of that too. |
