Main dish for dd's bat mitzva melaveh malka is pizza.
There will be soup to start (with bread) and salad to go with the pizza. There is a decent amount of dessert.
I need to order the party pizzas, which come cut into 24 squares. There will be about 24 girls, plus my two boys. We are eating it around 8:30pm. I have no idea how hungry these girls will be, especially as they may work up an appetite dancing beforehand!
How many pieces of pizza do you think teenage girls will eat? Trying to figure out how many pizzas to order. I might have dh pick up a couple of slices with the boys so they can choose something special, as they are essentially being banished for the evening! (They have learning motzei shabbos, and will leave before the party starts, but are coming home as pizza-delivery boys, and then have to stay out-of-sight and help babysit for a couple of hours!).

I'd say order 3 pies. Most of the girls will probably only eat 2 slices, but some might want a 3rd or your family might want some too!

3 pies, whatever is left over you'll freeze for later use.

DH pointed out that they are doing a special on their large pizzas, buy 1 get 1 half off, so it might work out cheaper.
Do you think it's better to do the party pizzas or regular large ones? The slices are a decent size, and we could get different toppings.
He thinks we should get 6 large, which I think is rather generous. (2+ large slices per girl, plus leftovers for my boys).
We will have to divide up the pizzas to serve them - I'm putting the pieces on plates for the girls to help themselves. Do you think it will be easier to do one over the other? What about which will look fancier (if you can call pizza fancy!).

Wish I could just make a decision and order, and get it off my mind!

I have to get the prices for the pizzas, but I think 2 large (10 slices each) was $24. And, I think those slices are significantly larger than a square of party pizza.

So I over order always on food cause I am always scared of running out. Take my suggestion with a grain of salt. I would order 4 slices per girl fully knowing they will prob eat 2-3 so that I would have leftovers so my family is covered.

You can have the pizza store double cut one pie into narrower pieces so of you feel like you are running low, that might be enough for girls who want thirds! Better more than less like Esti said bc you can freeze extras!

Realeez - am I right in thinking the squares of party pizza are really small? More like buffet, finger-food than supper food? I haven't seen one in years, since the kids went to little-kid bday parties.
If that's the case, we might do better with regular pizzas.

No clue about party slices honestly but with them, most ppl wouldn't get crust and then you'd have to deal with requests lol!

Good point about the crust debate - don't need more things for them to argue over!
I guess the consensus is to get regular pizzas, allowing 2-3 slices each.
Now we have to decide what toppings!

Sounds like you figured it out, but I was going to say that.

2-3 regular slices should be plenty, especially since you have other yummy food! I agree with realeez, it would be good to get one pie cut into 16 pieces to offer half slices if a girl wants more. If they cut a party pizza into 24 squares, it basically 1/3 a slice of pizza, more like an appetizer. I think most girls will be happy with plain pizza (no toppings), but if your daughter has any special requests, maybe you could get a couple pizzas with that topping.

Thanks Kallah. DH agreed with you - most pizzas plain, one or two "vegetable". I don't eat pizza because I can't eat dairy, so I'm embarrassingly ignorant about it.

Sounds good. Yeah, you know how kids can be. Wouldn't want them to turn up their nose and not eat pizza with "stuff" on it lol.
