Friday night

Challah - first time I've made my own in weeks!
Chicken soup - but no kneidlach because I'm out of matza meal :(
Roast Beef
Grilled chicken
Potato/sweet potato kugel
Broccoli kugel
Roast zucchini and mushrooms
Rice

Hot choc fudge cake for dessert (if dd feels like making it!)

Shabbos lunch
Gefilte fish
Salad

Cholent
Leftover kugels
Leftover meat and chicken

Dessert - hmm - hoping dd will have an idea, maybe "pudding" in waffle cups?

So glad you started this detkismama! Typing it up, I realise that I ran out of grape juice last week, and forgot to buy more. I hope we have enough little bottles from last year's mishloach manot that I don't have to make a special trip to the store in the middle of a snowstorm!

Estie - that sounds like a lovely birthday meal!

I'm glad to report that we have 3 individual bottles of grape juice in the pantry. Also, that dh didn't forget the need for grape juice, but saw that it was very expensive and remembered that we had the little ones. So, not so disorganized as I'd feared!

I remember that grape juice is expensive in Canada. Here it is on sale (for Pesach!) at Stop N Shop for $2.99 for 64 oz. Pretty cheap, every time I go there I buy a few bottles.

Yeah - I miss those pre-Yom Tov sale prices from when we lived in the States. It was a time to stock up for year-round.
DH didn't buy right now, because it was $7-8 for a 64oz bottle. A good sale is $4, but you rarely get the nicer brands for that (Kedem, etc ). A while back, we got the Kedem for about that price, and we bought a lot, but it's finally run out.
This week's big housekeeping job is to clear a cupboard and a the freezer compartment of the downstairs fridge, so I can take advantage of sale prices on food that happens to be pesachdik, before the prices go up in the Pesach sales!

I am stocking at BJs this year.

We has such a treat this week. We had dinner at shul. I just brought for my allergy kids. By day there was a huge kiddush so I just had some challah, avocado sushi, and some leftover chicken at home for everyone.

Yes it's Kedem. I keep buying a few bottles at a time so it should hopefully last until Rosh Hashana when they do it again. I can also buy it in Costco (I can't remember the price but it is quite decent), but the bottles are 96 oz and I find them hard to use.

We've gotten from Costco or sams club in the states - something like 2 96 oz bottles for like $9. Recently a friend went and loaded up and sold us a bunch! Otherwise it's crazy here - even cOstco here doesn't compare!

Here the stores used to have the 64 oz ones for $2.50 but now they're $2.99. BJs has the 96 oz kedem for $4 something. It's a few hundredths of a ccent cheAper to stock up on Kedem at stores.

Estie- I actually have a ton of water bottles and separate the 96oz bottles into them. One water bottle is enough of the size I have for one Shabbos even if we have guests. I freeze them and defrost on Thurs night. Its saved us a load of money.
