Well, I got as far as surveying the freezer. I have almost enough meat/chicken/turkey already cooked for shabbos and R"H. No challah, desserts or sides. Next job isto go through my notes and see what dishes I've made in the past with the simanim. I like making the simanim part of the meal. It's better for the kids when we are eating late, and it helps to maintain the right focus for a little longer.

I admire women who can cook/bake all those sorts of things. I typically make one pot meals because that's easiest.

One of the downsides of having so much ready-prepared is that I won't be making my default meal for yom tov day - pot roast with root veg. I do it all in one pot in the crockpot, and I don't have to worry about it drying up while we are out at shul.
Not that I'm complaining, as most of what is already cooked is food that dh prepared while he was cooking for me when I was off my feet!
Sides will be simple - roast squash, barley-mushroom bake, carrot tzimmes, roast potatoes, etc. Will probably supplement with kugels and cakes I buy rather than cooking myself, as I have a week full of appointments.

my american friend here is looking for a recepy - small bolls of dough boiled slowly in honey, it was a rosh hashana desert by her aunt. the aunt passed away, and was already senile by the time my friend got married and wanted to know the recepy. so she (my friend) tried once, and her whole kitchen was covered in honey :)

anyone knows what she is talking about? she would be sooo happy:)!

Well at least I decided to make challah after work yesterday. So I have 7 pretty big round challahs. Probably should make some whole wheat ones too, but if not I still have a few ww rolls.
Now I have to make sure I have time this morning to shop for all the ingredients for shabbos and YT
