With summer looming large I'm hoping to spend some time in the kitchen with the kids. What are some of your favourite easy-to-make recipes? Looking for stuff that doesn't need too much adult intervention.

AK manged this dessert with just instructions and a quick demo:

No-bake pudding cake:
2 packages tea biscuits (we did 1 choc and 1 vanilla, alternating layers)
1 package instant pudding mix (vanilla or choc)
Milk
Square pan

Mix pudding according to directions, but do not refrigerate.
Dip cookies quickly in milk, one at a time, and lay in a single layer in cake pan.
When bottom of pan is covered, spread pudding to cover in thin layer.
Repeat with more cookies and pudding layers till all pudding is finished.
Refrigerate till set (cookies will soften more).
Kept well in fridge for over a week.

If you have a microwave, my kids all like to do things like green beans - they use a small knife to trim the ends, sprinkle whatever seasonings they choose on the beans (usually garlic powder and onion powder and a herb) and cook on the automatic setting or just for a couple of minutes on high. We like to add a little olive oil.

Make your own pizza is fun - we do it on small pitas, and the kids help clean the mushrooms, peel onions, etc. Adult cuts veggies. Kids assemble their own pizza, and adult does the toaster oven.

Cookies - rolling, cutting and decorating.

Pastry - they can roll and fill - choc chips in puff pastry squares, brushed with egg and sprinkled with sugar.
