I'm looking to go dairy free for a while and was hoping for some suggestions for foods that I can replace the usual dairy ones with. I would also prefer to be soy free as well as all natural and foods that have as few ingredients as possible. I guess my big ones are coffee creamer (for my tea), and something for my bagel. I adore cream cheese, but I'm open to suggestions for other things to top my bagel with. For coffee creamer, thus far I've been using a mix of coconut milk/date syrup/vanilla/cinnamon. It's yummy, but not quite the same as coffee creamer. I can live without cheese and ice cream, and I don't use butter. Any suggestions would be helpful |

Can you eat nuts? Look on the web for instructions to make cashew cheese. You basically soak raw cashews for 6 - 8 hours then drain and blend, but I forget what you add in. It comes out very creamy and spreadable, sort of like ricotta cheese. You can use it for desserts (cheese cake like) if you add something sweet to it like maple syrup or you can go savoury and add basil, salt etc to go with pasta. You need a good blender or food processor or else it is a bit gritty. |

That sounds amazing. Sounds a lot like a nut butter. I'll look around to see what makes it more of a cheese. Thank you!! I make my own almond butter so the process may be similar. |

SoDelicious makes coconut and almond creamers. We use daiya cream cheese but you could do white fish, tuna, salmon, egg salad. |

Avocado is a good sub for cream cheese when you want something creamy on bread or bagel. How about the new Daiya cream cheese? I haven't tried it, but maybe Sara knows? For coffee - I'll admit that I drink mine black, but never did adjust to rice or soy milk in coffee or tea, unless I was making a really "milky" drink. It's fine in cocoa, or iced coffee (coffee and cocoa powder dissolved in a tiny bit of hot water, add non-dairy milk, sweeten to taste with maple syrup, add ice cubes - seriously addictive!) There's a product I've seen here called MiMiCreme (I think that's how they spell it) that seems to be a cream substitute made of cashews and another nut iirc. Not something I can have right now, so I've glanced at it in the store and pulled myself away! It's tetra packed, in the non-dairy milk section. Any nut butter or sunflower seed butter would be a filling topping for a bagel, and will also have that creamy mouth-feel. If I think of anything else, I'll come back. I love the taste of dairy, but not what it does to my insides, so I've been dairy free for years, and am adapting! |

I'll have to keep looking for those creamers! I haven't seen any in my regular stores, so I'll try Trader Joe's and Whole Foods next week... I'll try all of those suggestions, thank you! Being dairy free is new to me. I'm honestly not doing a great job. I had yogurt for lunch.... I'll have to look for non dairy yogurt options too next week! |

SoDelicious makes yogurts as well. http://sodeliciousdairyfree.com/ They have a store search :) I highly highly recommend the ice creams. I am partial to the cookie dough and my husband loves the cherry nirvana. We love the daiya products. Grilled cheese with the slices is SOOOOOOOoo good. The cream cheese is good but check under the lid to check for mold. Some people have found a bunch of batches with mold when they get home. Dayia is working it. |

That website is great, Sara. Thanks! Looks like I can prob have most of the almond products (YAY!) but not the Coconut Milk ones (BOO!) like the creamer. They put carrageen in everything! So far this is why I've been good with Silk Almond Milk, but not Almond Breeze. Can't have carrageen. |

You can make your own "ice cream" from frozen bananas. Here's a link how to do it (This website has lots of good vegan recipes, mostly raw) http://www.choosingraw.com/banana-soft-serve/ I add a teaspoon of peanut or almond butter when I make it. Yum. |

The Yonana is awesome! I really like BBQ'd bananas too. (Esp when stuffed with chocolate chips and marshmallows...) |
