Hi board members!! I'm going to try to post more often to keep everyone updated... the problem is, I'm not that msg board-savvy...so it'll take some getting used to. Anyway, I'd just like to thank Ryan again for taking care of this board, and to everyone else who pokes in to visit every once in a while. Anyway, onto some news: hmm... I had a great time in Wakefield this past weekend with the lovely and enchanting Kathleen Edwards. I really like the Blacksheep Inn, and the audiences were just great for these shows, v. responsive. I had a good time just hangin' in Wakefield for a few days too...pretty little town. Ate twice at Chez Eric's, which is a great restaurant with lots of veg food, I highly reccomend it. What else did I do? I stayed at this very "charming" Inn called the Alpengruss...my room had a wood-stove in it, which kept me warm at night. All of the days were very sunny, which was a treat...I just did a lot of walking around, and thinking, and some reading. Uh, I also did something that I've never done before- I actually bought a copy of US weekly...I don't know what came over me, but I suddenly felt like curling up in front of the wood stove, and reading that instead of my book (The Way the Crow Flies by Ann-Marie MacDonald)...so I'm current on all of my Paris Hilton goings-on. Anyway...the weekend was fun, Kathleen and her band were excellent, night after night... Onto Monday night in Ottawa... I had the pleasure of seeing Al Tuck and Catherine Maclellan play at The Manx...they were both fantastic. Was grateful to my friend Aaron for good converstaion, and for providing me with a nice place to rest my head that night...then early Tuesday morn, I headed home to Halifax...and now it's Friday! Hmm...haven't done too much over the last few days except catch up with friends, with bills, e-mails, etc...though Hotmail is driving me crazy and evidently erasing a bunch of my messages...argh. What do I have next? I'll be playing a show at ST. FX University in Antigonish next Wed. with my pal Joel Plaskett...should be fun. Anyone know what the Bloomfield Centre is like? The last time I played Antigonish I was part of a triple-bill with Wintersleep and Two-Hours Traffic...at Chuggles, t'was fun. Like last time, I think that I'll be doing an interview on CFXU on Wed aft/evening...I'll try to keep you posted with the details of that. Following that, I have a show at The Khyber in Halifax on Friday, March 11th which should be fun. Jenn Grant will be opening...I haven't heard her before, but I've heard many great praises re: her music. So please, come one, come all...and for those of you outside of the area, tell me where you live, and I'll try to make it there someday too. I'm most appreciative always, of your interest in my music...so thank-you. Sincerely, jb |

Hey Jill, Found your site after Alison Myatt was telling me about it. It's so awesome to see that you're doing so well. We all knew in high school what an amazing performer, singer and writer you were. Just checking in to say hi. Hopefully the next time you're in the Toronto area I can catch your show! Take care, Melissa Coburn |

Hello, I saw you in Calgary at the Iron Wood, you didn't charge enough for your show I don't think. I would have paid 100 bucks to see you! We need Jill Barber Tabs so we can feel your music!! |
