I've just downloaded Internet Explorer 9 and they've changed it quite a bit. It takes a bit of getting used to. No doubt one will adapt after awhile.

not really. The tabs are in a different place and the Refresher is slightly different... but you'll get used to it.

They are still at the bottom... but also the top. As now... But the top ones are in a slightly different place.

For all those who are thinking about upgrading to ie9, it isn't available for XP. Microsoft are putting the screws on, trying to get people to upgrade their os

I like XP, it's a lot better then the bag of spanners that is vista. Why change something when it's working well?

On the plus side, XP is now not a bad operating system, most of the flaws have been ironed out because it's been around that long. Hackers will become less interested in it.

On the down side, game makers, app and program makers will stop writing code for xp.

I've never had any problems with Vista. I suppose it is all down to what you want it for.

If the budget will stretch to it, I would recommend Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate over the Home editions. Amongst other things, Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate have a thing called Windows XP mode. In effect you can run a free version of Windows XP at the same time as Windows 7 if you so wish.

I think Vista is OK, although I have a few gripes, but I think Windows 7 is better.

All the main browsers are copying each other in 'look and feel'. The best thing is that all the latest browsers start quicker than their previous versions.

I stopped using any version of IE years ago. It always felt slow and clunky to me so I made the switch to Firefox and then recently onto Chrome, which I'm loving.

I've always found XP simple and intuitive to use in a way that Windows 7 just isn't. Actually, I'm seriously thinking about getting rid of Microsoft entirely and going down the Linux path.

I have tried firefox and opera and found both wanting.

Not tried chrome so may give that a go.

I suppose we get used to ie as its easy to use.

I agree about xp. I thought it was the best windows.

I see linux and my head explodes..what is the difference.?

I am certain the main 'problem' with people's experience will be familiarity. Windows 7 is close to Windows XP in speed, but is a more secure platform. Windows 7 also means that one can run IE9, which is an important reason to migrate.

The same goes with Internet browsers. Their look and feel are all converging. I don't mind Internet Explorer, but I don't like its insistence on using Bling and they have have removed Google from their search bar, which is crap of them to do.

I like Firefox mainly because it is more flexible to configure how you like, and has more free tools.

I love Firefox especially version 4.0.1.

Very fast.

IE9 is great on my Vista PC but firefox on my XP PC seems to be the fastest browser
I have.

Shame no IE9 on XP however.

Thats Microsoft for you.

:D

To be honest I don't know what all the fuss is about different Internet Explorers; so long as they do what you ask them then that should be it. Granted I haven't tried any other than IE.... but as I am happy I don't see any need to check the others out.

if you install, say, google crome you will notice a vast difference in how quicker web pages load. Compatability is a problem though particulary with the kbf forum, as discussed in another thread.
