New york is hoping to ban those in receipt of food stamps from buying soda.

How ridiculous is that  They shouldn't be able to tell people what to buy. And is if drinking soda on its own is the main cause of obesity.

The powers that be are taking matters too far.

The reason they drink so much soda is they don't seem to have squashes and cordials over there like we have here.
We don't buy much pop when we are buying our shopping, it is usually a 'holiday' item such as Christmas/Birthdays or a BBQ, but we find when on holiday in the US, we do buy more soda, and there is a lot of choice over there because there is no squashes to buy or at least none that I have found.

Perhaps if there was squashes and cordials sold there, kids would drink them rather than Soda, not a great alternative but the calories would be diluted by the water.
