I agree Frehley, but I don't like the answer the goverment have come up with. They are making everyone insure their car even if it is not being used, eg off road, in a garage or garden. They know if you own a car through their database. They also know if it insured or not. If it is not insured you will recieve an automatic fine. The only get out is if you've sorn it.

It's hard to know what they can do about it. My car was hit by an uninsured driver - and it was parked outside the house. It was a right-off and the other driver managed to drive his car away. We had no recourse. It certainly isn't fair but then, neither is it fair to insist that cars which are off the road are insured. If it's off the road then it isn't going to be a problem for anyone else is it? :blink:

I think they should introduce an insurance disc, like the tax disc. A visable means of showing you are insured. If someone defaults on payments or stops the policy, the disc would have to be returned or if they fail to do that within a set timescale a appointed body would have the right to visit these people to recover the disc.
