While the cost of Domestic Printers had come down considerably the cost of Printers Ink has not, apart for Kodak which is the most economical on the market.

If you prefer another make of printer some of the cartridges cost £14.99each unless discounted.
Substitutes are on offer at considerably reduced prices but the quality is much reduced and can clog you Printer, although I have found W H Smith and P C World’s to be quite Good

You can buy Software on the market that will apparently save ink but not significantly.

One way to save ink is to set your printer on Draft which is adequate for most documents unless they are important.

Also the font makes a difference: Gerund uses less ink and many famous Books are printed using that font.

‘ Justinkpaper.com’ … sell genuine well known name Ink Cartridges at one third discount: i.e. RRP £14.99 down to £9.99.

Good Advice ....

I have used an Epson Office BX300F for 2 years now

Black cartridges (Original Epson - £6)

Colour ( Original Epson - £9 )

Best printer I have ever had - ( and it copies / scans / faxes too !)

Hard to find - EBay :-

I also have an Epsom.

I told my son that when buying a printer never look at the price. Check out the price of cartridges. The con is that they sell printers ridiculously cheap and make their money on the cartridges. I had a Dell printer previously and their cartridges cost £25 each.

The other con is some - like Dell - you can't refill. Epson you can.

I have a Cannon Pixma MP150 all in one scanner/copier and printer whitch is PictBridge compatible.

Great machine but the ink is expensive. One cartridge for B&W and one for colour. Kodak are the cheeper but the quality of printing is low, something to remember if you like to print your own photos. :)

HI freshley

I quite like the EpsOm Office B1100 A3 printer as I have many documents and Art-work that size A3.

Must look round for a bargain.

Hi voice

You are correct about Printers. At present there are Companies giving Free Printers /Fax Machines so that you will but their expensive ink cartidges.

Howerever I would not touch refills with a barge pole. What a palaver!
It is so messy and the only time I tried it got Black ink down my finger nails which took ages to get rid of, and the cartirdges then leaked into my Machine so I had to call the Engineer who did not reccomend refills. A costly business.

Hi Ron

I have a Cannon Pixma MP 610 and it is very reliable.

Now three years old and no problems.

If I change it it will be for an A3 printer which is an advantage for Art-work

Hi,

I am not talking about doing them yourself, but going to a refill shop. You get them cheaper. But I agree with you about doing them yourself.
