My lap top is most uncomfortable on my knees as it feels as though it is going to set on fire any minute, even though I have got it on a cooling pad I have been told it is not worth buying a new battery so is it time to buy a new Laptop? My knees have not felt that hot for years! azure

Try taking the battery out and running on mains only, if it is the battery it should not get so hot. It could be the fan intake that is blocked with fluff. Peer into the fan intake to see if you can see a blockage. A battery is a lot cheaper then a new laptop. If you are happy with the performance of the PC then a new battery could be the better bet, if indeed it is the battery. |

Did it stay cool without the battery, the only snag with that method is if you accidently pull the plug out, the laptop turns off. You have to be careful, I've travelled that road.... |

Sometimes we can change when the equipment we use is perfectly adequate for our needs. Glad your getting it sorted.
