Hi everyone!, I was really hoping if you had the time, you'd give me some input. I've been trying to create a web site for anime for quite a while now, but I can't code to save my life. Anyway, I've created images of ideas for what the site could look like, and some polls for people to give me their opinions. It's all right here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/notes_for_yuzur/2380.html Any other comments you have are always welcome. ---Oh, and if you look at this board while at work, you may not want to view other posts on that journal, I have an image of a realdoll on there somewhere because it's creepy and has my name. |

I check em all out and voted. I like the layout of 5 because personally I prefer easy to navigate sites...more so along the lines of it's just easy to see where you want to go and know that when you click a link, it's gonna take you to what you expect it to, heh The logo's I was kinda up in the air about. |

Naw Vix, I'm just glad I've gotten SOME feedback. I've asked tons of people to look at it, but I guess they don't want to take ten minutes... I've only had four people fill it all out. At this rate, I'm not really going to get any results.

So, what is your site going to be like? I mean, what are you going to focus on? That's an awfully big subject. |

Well, I got pissed off with trying to look up images or information and getting answers that were either wrong or scattered over bunches of pages, so I decided that I would like to run a site that collects accurate information about as many aspects of anime as possible. It really is a big subject, but I'm really inspired to tackle it. I'm going to cover parts that I don't even really participate in, like cosplay, buying cells, fanfiction, things like that. I'll be posting reviews on all things, like the actual anime, manga, and products associated with it. There will be editorials about the fandom, manufacturers, etc. I'll have how-to articles with any tips I come across, there will be a dictionary of terms, information about the industry and biographies of companies and important individuals involved with it. There will be lists of voice actors, a large image gallery, quizzes... Basically, the works. I've been collecting information for a long time and there are other people who are going to contribute time and opinions (editorials and reviews) to the site. It's my mantra that if you're going to do something, you do it well. I'm a very visual person, so how the site LOOKS is quite important to me. I spent a lot of time looking at what parts of certain sites I enjoyed, colors, and things like that. I'm no good at logos, and I don't have photoshop, so I made all of the proposed sketches in paint, pixel by pixel (like the katamaris for gravy). What's really funny about it is that I'm not obsessed with anime (I like it like I like all movies, really). I'm really just passionate about accurate information and making a place that people will appreciate. sorry, I kinda went off there...

wow, that's quite a task! I'd offer help but I know nothing about anime and such. Good luck though. Feel free to ask me about layouts if you want, heh. |

I do know a lot on the subject, so feel free to ask me anything if you have a question. Also, this site may come in handy: Animenfo |

You should definitely have a section of the site devoted to anime critters like cabbits, Keroberos, the moon cats, Yusuke's dream-egg, Puuchuus, and Kirara. That'd rock.
And maybe a hall of villains...the Sailor Moon section alone would be huge! |

I have a general mock-up of the site now, it's not jsut drawn in paint, it's all coded! It's just a homepage for now, because I want to work out the kinks before the code gets really long and complicated. The buttons don't go anywhere yet, but the banner and the "home" text link to the homepage as well. I was wondering if anyone is having any problems viewing in in different web browsers. I'm running mozilla firefox, and the image on the right (aa white-haired young man) won't load on mine and my code to remove underlines from the 'home' link aren't supported by the browser. EDIT: I've fixed the tint issues by making the banner a transparent .gif And I've changed the link, because the site re-located. I've also fixed all but one major cosmetic problem with the site./EDIT If you notice anything else funny, please let me know. It's right here: http://somethinganime.atspace.com/Index.htm (and just in case, I took a screenshot of what shows up in my browser so you can compare if you want) http://img82.echo.cx/img82/3301/mirror5kn.jpg |

It's the same thing on my computer. No differences whatsoever.
That's the code that is having problems. |

Yeah, I've narrowed it down to that, but I can't for the life of me understand what's wrong with it. At first I thought it was that Firefox doesn't accept <span> tags, but my text is using <span> tags too, and that shows up just fine. I hear that on IE, the image is right there.

You must have gotten on as *soon* as I fixed it. It does show now, but the image is much lower in Firefox. The original problem was that firefox doesn't accept a negative z-index value. Now the image is a transparent .gif, but I can see the small image quality loss. So, both of those are bothering me. It's become a much bigger problem, stupid HTML!

In case anyone cares, I got all of the problems solved and the site is back up on a different server. The new URL is: http://somethinganime.atspace.com/Index.htm If you want to contribute something, I'll be happy as a clam to take it! And thanks for all of your input and help, guys!
