I would have to go with the PS3 and maybe the Nintendo Revolution depending on how much cash I have available.

Probally not though.

Well, if I can't buy it I will at least try it out a store. Just to see how the touchscreen works.

it's looking like it might be a pretty even race between all three....each has it's own set of pros/cons...

the next few months should be really interesting.

I think the PS3 with the Blu-Ray technology could be interesting...but the question is can the game makers create seamless titles with those enormous specs. Shall be intriguing.

The fact that Nintendo Revolution if compatable with every title from previous consules (including NES) might make it worth purchasing.

the revolution is necessarily compatitble...you can download nes, snes, and n64 games off of the online service that nintendo will be using so it's not like you can just plug in a nes or snes game...though that would be pretty sweet too

Awww... then it works just like my PC, right? load old roms from the net and start them in a emulator. :D
#gasp# Has Nintendo just slapped some emulators together with a unified menusystem? :heh Lot of old games have been considered free since you can't buy them or the machines that used to run them anymore, we're in for a lot of lawsuits against emulator and rom pages, it seems. Better take the download counters off those pages now. "Exhibit B, Burger Time, downloaded 588768 times, at $39,95 a piece, adds up to..."

from the way i see it, PS3 will be too much(^$300), Xbox 360 will only be good for people with a highspeed internet connection(not me), and Revolution may or may not have a lack of good games(downloadables excluded)

I just get which ever one has the newest Katamari game :thumbsup

Karppa--- $23521281.60 for burger time... Ps3 is very, very impressive, and since it'll be a while for the revolution, I'll have to wait on it... So far, ps3 has my vote.
The videos from ign (especially the FFVII tech demo teaser) are mindblowing, even at the low quality. I wonder what the specs will be on the NR? I mean, the GC blew the ps2 and xbox out of the water, technically, but it also is the developers that make the biggest difference.

(Well, GCN blew the PS2 out of the water anyway. I'm pretty sure X-Box is this tiny smidgen more powerful a machine)

My money's going to be on the Nintendo Revolution, since it will probably be the only one I have any chance of affording next year. Besides, I owe it to Nintendo after not buying ANY of their other systems (I once got a SNES second-hand though).

Wow. Console discussion. Hmm. Well, I won't say too much considering the number of votes for the PS3, which I have quite a negative opinion towards. Anyways, I think the Rev is going to be my fave from the three, but I think the 360 is going to be the most successful.

It pretty much has to be the PS3 for me, because very nearly every game franchise I follow is PS-only. I don't particularly care about the look or comparative quality of the hardware--it's ALL about the games. If I could afford more than one console, I'd also want the Revolution, because of the whole backwards-compatibility-all-the-way-to-NES deal, but I can't.

Try as I might, I still can't think of the Revolution as anything else than a PC with a bunch of emulators with a unified menusystem and a net-connection to dl roms from a fixed address...

Last I heard it plays GC and REV games as well and also uses the online connection to play against other people with the new REV games. :P

Yeah, i'm a bit of a REV nut. I even have a message board set up for Nintendo clans for the REV and the DS. If anyone would like to check it out just let me know.

Oh! Now that I think of it, I know I haven't been on here for long, vix, but I could use one of those coutdown things for something else on my board if you'd like to help.

Hmm...I can't see the xbox doing better than the PS3, maybe, maybe in the beginning, but I think in the long run, the ps3 will own mainly because of the wide variety of games....

Why do you dislike the ps3 so much?

Don't get me wrong though, I'm far from a fanboy and would be willing(if i had the money) to buy a ps3 and revolution, screw the box, lol....

discomaster, pm me about the countdown code.

Ok. Well, i'm weary about the cell processor. It sounds needlessly complicated. It just seems to me like Sony is making the most powerful console it can so that they can say they have the most powerful console, not only in spite of the fact that the best looking/running games probably won't even need all that power from the console, and that it'll probably scare off developers due to overwhelming complications. I mean, I hear the PS2 is already a tough system to work with, and it sounds to me like the PS3 is going to be nothing more or less than a nightmare.

Considering where Sony got it's third party support in the first place, the N64 being too expensive to develop for compared to the Playstation, I have a strong feeling that times are changing and Sony is going to get shafted majorly just like Nintendo did back in the 90's. But that's just one persons opinion. It might not be so bad, but you never know.

But I might as well complete my thoughts. The X-Box 360, well, as much as i'd hate to admit it, i'm impressed. They're drawing the attention of both gamers and developers, and it sounds like development is going to be rather comfortable for it. I think it has a strong chance at taking first place in the next gen console wars. They already have Square-Enix and Capcom on board, and many more will probably follow.

As for the Revolution, well, all I can say is never underestimate the underdog. I doubt they'd have any chance at getting first place unless they try to get as much dev support as possible, and acqiure the privilidge to offer their old games on the downloadable classics. But regardless, I think Nintendo is in a solid position. They can't get much worse then they are now, especially with the REV being what it is now, which isn't much, but enough to keep the fans interested. They'll probably increase their fanbase which is just fine and dandy in my books. I may be a big Nintendo fan myself, but I could care less if they ever took first place again. I'd only care if the company crashed alltogether. Which probably won't ever happen. Regardless they have the DS which is a wonderful gaming handheld.

there's just something about the ds that just doesn't appeal to me and from my own personal experience, it doesn't seem to appeal to anyone over 21, :lol...to me, the DS is just a novelty but to each their own. I don't have a psp and don't really plan on getting oneonly if i win the lottery and then in that case i'm getting every system ever made, :heh :heh)

To me, the xbox, you ask someone to name good games and all they can say is halo or fable....you ask someone to list good ps2 games and there's definitely more than 2, lol

I think the next gen race will be fairly even for the top two but I kinda have the feeling this may be nintendo's last stand.

Worse comes to worse, Nintendo will do what Sega did and degenerate into a third-party software publisher. They simply have too much wealth to go bankrupt.

I think it was the XBox Live that had the headset.

Pretty much the only reasonably priced launch I can see MIGHT be Nintendo's. They have a knack for meeting the middle-ground with broke-ass gamers (like me) these days. Probably because with Nintendo, you're paying for a dedicated gaming system and not a "media center"...

Though, for a media center and a powerful machine, a 300-dollar pricetag for a 360 is more than reasonable... If only it came with a hard drive.

VealPrince, please stop posting if you have nothing to say.

The price tags were annouced at 300 for the basic and 400 for the deluxe package I believe.

PS2's had headset's as well...
