Has anyone else played this game? I picked the special edition (with soundtrack ^_^) up at EB for $17 used. Its kind of a tactics rpg. But there's no grids in the battle system. And you start out with only one character in the battle and you "confine" phantoms(ghosts) into items such as trees and rocks that are on the battlefield, turning those objects into your characters. Each object has different properties, so you have to plan which bonuses or negative effects you want for your characters. The play itself is very deep and the story is quite amazing. Very depresing at times, and still sprinkled with humor. It's from the makers of (forgive my spelling) la pucielle tactics and disgaia. Its one of my favorite ps2 games, and I've only gotten about 6 hours into it (it supposedly takes 100-200 to beat). |

It's either Phantom Brave, or Disgaea: Hour of Darkness...I dunno which to buy first...Phantom Brave looks good...yet Disgaea looks a bit better....I don't even know if the two relate to eachother or not! But I eventually want both of them...I just don't wanna buy both, and end up playing one much more than the other!....oh, and La Pucelle too! ARG!!!!

I've heard they both have their pros and cons. The biggest complaint on phantom brave seems to be the sound, which is actually great. I would say weigh out the grid battle system vs. the grid free battle system (phantom brave is the latter), and choose off of that. |
