Has anyone managed to work out the lyrics for "Eien no ai"/"Everlasting Love"? I think I've figured out most of it, but this has me utterly confused: "I can make a song for you and me. I can make a song for all poofy love!" Poofy love? That can't really be it, surely? That doesn't even make sense. Also, in the Song for the King of Kings, is the guy saying "Every day, every night, the King unrolls another rainbow," or something else entirely? (I can't even tell if the guy's speaking English or not!) |

D'oh. Head, meet desk. That makes perfect sense. I must've listened to it twenty times, head cocked in puzzlement, without getting it! (I'm the worst when it comes to misheard lyrics, though. I used to think the line "I'm old enough to face the dawn" in "Angel of the Morning" was "I'm old enough to face the gnome." I probably don't know a single song in its entirety, and free of mistakes.) |

Ha, ha--you're very welcome, aaron! Enjoy that poofy love! Here's an even worse one (don't worry--it's not from KD/WLK, so it (probably) won't scar you too badly!): when I first heard that stupid "Fairydreaming" song from...er, some anime series or other (never saw the series--just heard the song), I misunderstood some of the only English words in the entire song. Yeah. The singer said "midnight, here really". I heard "Mr. Takanori." Another really bad one: every time I listen to "La Traviata," my brain insists on hearing "Ah, pił [non dite]" as "Up yours!" (Which is what I would say in that particular scene, but that's neither here nor there!) Finally, I used to think Iggy Pop said "Here comes Johnny Yin again, with the liquor and drugs. What a sex machine!" in "Lust for Life." (It's really "Here comes Johnny in again, with the liquor and drugs, and the flash machine." That doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense either, but it's better than my interpretation!) See? Told ya I was the worst! |

Socar- If you ever hear David Bowie's "Ashes to Ashes", they lyrics are "funk to funky"... I just hear it on the radio and thought it was... Well, something else, knowing this radio station. |

You know, I HAD heard that song, and I also thought...er, something else. Also, I once mistook a picture of David Bowie for a Photoshopped image of myself. Yes. That's right. I, a female in her twenties, thought a picture of a guy in his...what, fifties?--was a picture of me. ![]() ![]() In my defense, it was on a forum where people routinely Photoshopped people in silly ways, and the topic was entitled "Socar, I never knew you were David Bowie"--and there IS more than a passing resemblance, so I just assumed.... |

I love those websites that list misheard song lyrics. A couple of mine: Pretenders - Message of Love Real lyric - "like Brigitte Bardot" My lyric - "like rigid butter" Kansas - Dust in the Wind Real lyric - "just a drop of water in an endless sea" My lyric - "just a drop of water in an embassy" |

I thought it was "foofy love". Which is funny because Foofy is the nickname for my Persian kitty.

You do look remarkably similar! That photo of Bowie, incidentally, is about 30 years old. At that time in Rock 'n' roll, gender-bending was part of the schtick. See if you can find any pics of The New York Dolls. Glam rock was the thing. |
