Infected is a bloody little third-person shooter for the psp. It is probably going to be a sleeper hit, but this game is so much fun! I had been watching it since E3 '05, but not much was really said about it.
Well, it came out last week, and I decided to go ahead and get it today. I'm going to be waiting in line for a friend tonight to pick up a 360 from walmart for him, so I needed something to play :P
"IGN"

In a lot of ways, Infected plays like a puzzle game without the need to think -- kind of like Super Bust-A-Zombie or Katamari Deadmacy.

That's not entirely true... It feels more fast paced than katamari... In some missions, it's just "kill 'em all!" and in others it's "run, grab all the uninfected civilians, and then kill 'em all!" so its not all just straight forward. Sometimes you'll have to run across the level only shooting zombies that are attacking you or civilians at the time to be able to rescue as many as possible for more money/a gold medal.
The music is D&B and heavy metal. As the ign reviewer said, normally the metal would make my ears bleed but it works for this game.
The graphics are good, better than some console titles, and has great special effects. And blood splattering on my screen is the coolest effect ever.
The controls are so-so, but they did what they could with the limited buttons on the psp, so it's all good.

The game is based on foul mouthed humor, and starts from the opening cutscene. I haven't laughed so much at a game ever before.
I haven't had a chance to play multiplayer yet, but if it's anything like singleplayer, it'll be so freakin sweet.
When you beat someone on multiplayer, your avatar infects their game. If they beat someone else, without destroying your infection, your virus spreads. There is a tracker ingame, where when you hook up to infrastructure, it can tell you where in north america your virus has spread (not released in asia or europe yet, but the tracker is web based, so it should cover them too)

All in all, it's one of the best PSP games I've played, and I've played quite a few, and yet another reason for getting a psp.

8.5/10

Thank you for the review!

I'm actually going to be doing the same thing, I need a 360 for a gift, but I'm nervous they'll run out before I can get one (I probably should have pre-ordered somewhere). Anyway, if I can't get one I was going to pick up a PSP instead, and I don't have one so I have nooooo idea which games are good for it. That game sounds perfect for a fan of both zombies and unique style games, so if I get the PSP I think I'll get that game for it. Do you have any other recommendations?

Definitely let me know when you get your site up! I'm probably going to be giving the PSP after all.

I went EVERYWHERE LAST NIGHT, ToysRus, Walmart, Kmart, Target, you name it, in the freezing rain... and I am empty handed. By the time my night class let out there were already like 30 people waiting in tents at every store, and the stores that would actually tell me how many 360s they had only had like 6-14 each! Ugh, I'm really pissed off at Microsoft right now. It is really mean to market something in this method right before the holidays with such a "limited supply." There are going to be a lot of disappointed kids. I hope they release a bunch more soon, they're going for frickin 1700ish on ebay :-(

I hope your friend was luckier than I was!
