Simpsons Movie; maybe this is old news, but ...

That's right, the opening of The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings did say "See you on some other channel", and it was funny because they weren't sure that was the last episode when they made it. I think it's a spectacular way to go out, that episode made me want so much more. I mean putting a giant operatic into the show and finishing it with that touching moment just made it all click.

On a side note, there are two episodes of Futurama that make me cry no matter how many times I see them. I'll try not to spoil them for anyone who's thinking about getting the seasons, but they are the ones where they find Fry's old dog and where Fry finds out his brother stole his life after he was frozen.

OMG, those two episodes...I KNOW!...the one about the dog always makes me cry and the other one, the luck of the fryrish is one of my all time fav's.

We're kinda hijaking the simpsons thread with futurama, lol...

ah well, futurama was better...:lol

As for the last episode...I was kinda glad that was the last ep, because of the story, fry finally go leela or so it appears and had they contined with the story that way, it might have felt soap opera-ish but i doubt....I'm interested to see what the movies are gonna be about.

Futurama was one of my favorite shows but FOX kept screwing with the air times and everything.

As for the Simpsons themselves, I believe it's time to end it.

NOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooo! I may be the only one but I still like the new episodes. I couldn't imagine Sunday night without new Simpsons.

The final set of clips at the end of the episode with the dog (in Futurama) - :crybaby :crybaby :crybaby :crybaby :crybaby

Yeah, that dog episode was sad. I can't believe a comedy cartoon would make me feel like that. :crybaby

I'm not saying that there would be no more Simpsons, but that the format should change to give them more creative freedom in plot. Pretty much any idea involving the family has been done, but letting the writers hit an entirely Flanders or Apu (my personal favorite) story would not only give us some good stories, it would let them get some fresh ideas for the family as well. Heck, I'd love to see another episode focusing on Ruth Powers (their OTHER next door neighbor, I think her daughter completely fell off the planet). Just look at some of the stories that suffered because they had to tack on senseless plot involving the rest of the family, the Hullabalooza episode comes to mind, they had to cop out the ending because they couldn't figure out how to keep Homer as a hero to Bart.

And that Futurama episode I believe is called Jurassic Bark.

What a coincidence... Jurrasic Bark always makes me cry too :crybaby I also find the one with Fry's brother and the one where the Globetrotters help to stop the timejumps to be very sad.

I don't find the end of Time Keeps Skipping Away to be all that sad since the final moment is one giant screw you to Fry.

I thought that one was more of a sweet episode. I thought the title was Time Keeps Slipping Away?(edit, it's actually called Time Keeps On Slipping) I could be wrong though. I thought how even after he lost his one chance, he still played the holophoner(?) ans still played about Leela. :love

Another one I love is Parasites Lost where Fry has the super worms in his body. :lol

Yeah, I realize Fry ended up winning Leela's affection again later, but I just thought it was sad that he had gone through all that effort, convinced Leela to marry him, and then spent the rest of the episode trying to remember how he did it, only to have his efforts destroyed when he finally discovers the truth. Bender whistling the globetrotters theme was a nice touch :lol

Another touching episode was the one where Leela gets stung by the giant space wasp. The whole plot of that episode was pretty interesting.

Oh yeah, the space wasp one was great, it had a lot of throwbacks to the pilot episode and such, that's one of my fav's as well.

Wait, I just thought of another idea for the Simpsons movie the writers have had that would totally work... If Phil Hartman were still alive. The live action Troy McClure movie would have been a dream to see, but that ship has sailed.

Once all of Phil Hartman's characters disappeared due to his death, the show lost a lot in the way of bits. I loved Troy McClure and the lawyer, and a few other roles he had were priceless.
