Exercise!; What do you do to stay in shape?

The Prince's Bride
One Love

Well, I used to be a runner a couple of years back (I would run thirty minutes non-stop everyday), but because my mother thought I was getting a bit anorexic at the time, I stopped. Although I still took long, brisk walks everyday, I've been wanting to start back up for awhile, but I was afraid that it would be so hard, that I would hardly be able to run at all. Just this past Monday, I finally got up the guts to get out there and run again. And, wow, was I ever surprised! I was able to run the first day, about 10 minutes, then 15 minutes the next day, I think (I didn't time it). Both today and yesterday, I was able to run my whole walk route :woot When I timed it, it ended up being around 25 minutes, so I'll have to tack on some extra streets or something if I want to run a full thirty minutes again. It's amazing that I still have retained my endurance for the most part, even though I haven't been running for awhile. What's even more amazing, is that when I was finished with my run, I regained my breath very quickly, in about a minute. Woo, I'm in better shape than I thought :D It simply feels amazing to be running again, I just can't tell you all how great it feels!

Anyway, could you guys please share what you do for exercise? I am very interested in hearing how active you all are and how you stay in shape. I would especially like to hear if there are any other runners in here like me, who have quit for awhile then start back up with the same amazing results (I'm sure I'm not the only one).

don't mess with the yoda! :brucelee

i think it's great that you run, TPB, but i'm on the short side and am pretty slow at running.... :dead

I practice Martial Arts as well, and run a bit...and I have a trampoline in the back yard, that's pretty fun.

I like to do yoga because it's so simple to do. No special equipment, no gym fees, no set up except a mat or towel. I don't exercise nearly enough. I'm still hoping to get the Eye Toy Kenetic workout game eventually to see it that's any good. I just took up my first sport - snowboarding. I love it! I'm horrible at it and I fall down a lot, but it's so much fun! Too bad the season's pretty much over, though.

I tried Aikido a long time ago and I was okay with it until it became a contact sport. Owie! :crybaby Then I quit. What a baby, huh?

Raquetball every weekday morning for a little over an hour. Just a note, raquetballs hurt. A lot. So do the raquets. Even more.

Vix, you make me laugh. :smirk

I walk a lot. I love walking. Me and my dog. We're awesome.

If I had a katamari though, it would be Me and my katamari...and my dog, but I don't.

:prince I see the prince does squats to keep in shape. At least I think they're called squats.

Last year when I started going to high school I made some friends that hung out all the time at a really nice park like 15 minutes away from my house if I walk fast. I'd walk down there all the time on the weekends and over the summer I went like every day I could. Sometimes I just run down there and take a nap and run home.

I do the same thing too!
at school I run around a huge racing track and I have to
do 3 or 4 laps.

I used to do soccer when I was younger, but stopped due to the roughness and nastiness of the girls I played with. I haven't exercised for a long time, but now I'm starting back up again, as my weight is high. I now do the exercise bike as well as some weight lifting because my doctor said I needed to strenghthen my arms, especially the right one(I broke it awhile ago and it doesn't get used as often as my left.) I'm losing some weight already from doing the bike, and hopefully I can keep it up. Thankfully I can go to the gym at me school on free periods.
