Black Friday is the day after thanksgiving. I always go out with my mom and we get most of our shopping done that day since 99% of the shopping is for my niece.

NEVER!! I hate the crowds. Ugh. I heard some stores are going to open at midnight. I could see shopping at 3 in the morning, though - less people, easy parking. |

Yes, I love to go out on black friday. I try to shove myself into the christmas spirit (and through the crowds haha) and I usually go with my mom, too. Actually, I'm sure that this year pretty much everything we'll be buying will be for my niece, too (that seems to be the case everytime we go to the store). We already got her dress up costumes of Belle and Tinkerbell (which my mom already gave to her cause she couldn't wait ) and I got her this like, Polly Pocket style Belle figure set. My niece is totally obsessed with Belle right now, and whenever she wants someone to put the movie on she says "I wanna watch Beauuuty and the Beeeeast" and like, sings the title like how it is in the movie. Haha, and she yells at my mom whenever the Bonjour! song comes on and my mom sings it, shes like "NO GIGI IT'S A-JOUR!" haha. Oh and she gets upset everytime the Beast turns back into a human, and we try to convince her it's the same guy but she just doesn't believe us.Luckily, I don't think I have to buy too many presents for people this year. I'm thinking that much like 2 years ago, people are going to get a painting and maybe something like a DVD or something. I'll update if I find any cool sales, let me know if you guys see anything really good as well cause I have no direction just yet Woo 400th post!!! *clicks bells and whistles*

Yup, I go out with my mom too. We normally leave the house around 4:30am since any store near us is about a 45 minute drive at least. Of course, we always eat breakfast before we head out. This year my brother and his fiance might go as well, although my brother said that she hasn't seen 4 am in years unless she stayed up to see it. Haha. It's crazy, but it's always so much fun! We've never ran into those really horrible shoppers that punch people and stuff. The worst I seen it was where this guy was throwing cabbage patch dolls up in the air and mothers were running into one another trying to catch them. They thought that they were getting the last ones, but there was a huge stock of them in the back. It was kinda funny but sorta sad. Either way, it's such a wierd and exciting time. It's the only time that people seem to open up and chat with you when you're standing out in a line waiting for a store to open. They're so friendly, at least until the store opens. |

One theory is that retailers traditionally operated at a financial loss for most of the year (January through November) and made their profit during the holiday season. When this would be recorded in the financial records, common accounting practices use red ink to show negative amounts and black ink would to show positive amounts. Black Friday is the beginning of the period where they would no longer have losses (the red) and instead take in the year's profits (the black). (from wikipedia) |

I was at Costco and Best Buy last weekend and it all ready seemed like Black Friday! The parking lot was packed and so were the stores. Stu, one of the reasons it's such a crazy shopping day is that Thanksgiving is always on a Thursday and most people (but not all, damn it!) get the next day off. For a lot of people it might be the only weekday off before Christmas to get some shopping done. Plus all the retailers have gigantic sales (thus the $40 San Disk) to get people in. Last year, my brother and his friends checked out all the deals at Fry's, Toys 'r' Us etc. early, pooled their cash, and each got in line for a different store. (Yes, people wait in line outside for the store to open.) They got some insane deals that way. |

Black Friday is always the day after Thanksgiving which is always the fourth thursday of November. Stores open early for early bird savings and deals and what not. You can get some really good prices on stuff that day. |
