I'm not exactly a holiday person. In fact, Xmas is my least favorite time of the year. THe only thing I enjoy about Xmas is the lights. So when I saw Halloween stuff in the store BEFORE Labor Day, I was pretty dumbfounded. Costumed, pumpkins, you name it. So today, I'm at Target and what do I see? Xmas stuff. Trees, cards, oranments, and other various things. It's not even Halloween yet and Xmas stuff is out. It's seriously getting ridiculous. I figure by next year Halloween stuff will be out before the back to school stuff is. ![]() Does anyone else find this annoying? |

i was just talking about this with someone today how the halloween stuff was out at labor day, now people are standing out on the corner in their halloween costumes and promoting the stores. i used to work in a craft store so i understand the putting out holiday stuff early. i don't like it, but you'd be amazed at how many people buy it when it's not even close to the season. it's mainly the little old ladies, so you should be doing it sometime in the distant future. i personally like the holidays, though. last thanksgiving we actually had all of the members of our immediate family together, so it was really nice. i don't care much for the commercialism and all, but i do enjoy the sales.

i noticed lots of halloween stuff yesterday at target but i dont care. i bought a bunch of big plastic gargoyles actually. as long as people want to buy stuff early stores might as well use the shelf space. |

It DOES get kinda nutty because the holiday stuff keeps getting put out sooner and sooner. I personally love Christmas, but seeing all that stuff so early sort of makes the season less special. I mean, by the time the holiday REALLY comes around, you're tired of it all ready
Same thing with the down jackets on sale in September and swim suits in January

yeah, it does seem kind of overdone when that's all you see for 3-4 months. that's why i never really liked christmas carols. we have one radio station here that plays christmas music from thanksgiving to december 31. by the time christmas actually arrives you've come to your christmas carol quota. honest truth :sleepy |

I personally don't get why they have to put the stuff out so early. It's like a holiday overload and by the time they actual days roll around, you just can't wait for it to be over. |

Heh, I work at a place that sells both of those things, and last February I had several customers demand to know why bathing suits weren't out yet. I mean, geez. Wait two or three months, will you? Anyway, yeah.. I noticed Christmas stuff at the Dollar Store the other day. And I hate when stores put back to school things out before my birthday (mid July). Let the kids enjoy their summer!

i hate the cold weather where my steering wheel is frozen and i have to warm up my car. plus, people don't know how to drive in the ice/snow around here, there's either no one on the streets because they didn't want to go out, or they're all piled up.
i guess all i can think about is driving during the winter. i can't imagine buying summer stuff in january unless it was florida or on the equator... of course they may have wanted it for tanning or an indoor pool, you never know. |

The only problem I have with it is the Christmas music. I used to work in retail, and I was ready to climb up to the roof, tie bricks to my shoes, and try to fly by December. Halloween is awesome though

I know how you feel. Try working retail (Gamestop to be specific) during Christmas. Ugh, I worked when the 360 launched near the holidays when it did and the wii as well last holidays. I swear, we should have put up a sign near the door that said "we don't have any wiis." Plus, when I went into work one morning there were people camping out the store, some even stayed overnight there. The lengths people go to for the holidays. Well on the bright side atleast we don't put up holiday decorations ridiculously early or start any sales before December.
That's exactly what I felt like last year everytime someone asked me if we had any Wiis. After the holidays I was so sick of hearing the word "Wii". It's not really the holidays we should hate, it's the commercialism that ruins it. I still love Christmas despite all this, and I even want to go trick or treating for Halloween this year like last year. |

Yes it is very annoying. I worked at Walmart for 6 years and every year about this time, or sometimes in August they would set up the Christmas crap. It has become all about the money. Makes me sick! Christmas is about the birth of Christ not about making money. But I do like the lights and spending time with the family and some of the music is good but the crowds. ahhhhhh Working at Walmart, even thought it was in Produce, it was still CRAZY!!! at Christmas time. But I am thankful I worked in Produce instead of the other side of the store. Even thought it was crazy in Produce at least I was helping families getting together to eat. Something necessary - food!
