I check it up, I funk it up!

Everlasting Love + You Are Smart made me lose faith in professional music remixing. Whoever thought to do that should be killed. It doesn't work at all!

The cover of Everlasting Love was actually really good, is there a version of it that's NOT mixed with a completely random and unfitting song?

Yes, I love the remixes. I didn't know so many people hated the Katamari on the Swing remix, I loved it.

Sayonara Rolling Star (Yuri's Mixx) is pretty much the only song I really like from this soundtrack. Oh! And Katamari Spirit (the Mutliplayer menu song). Now I thought Sayonara was so incredibly awesome...until I heard the original for the first time (since I don't have a 360) and holy crap, the original is way better. Yuri's Mixx is ok, too, but dang, what an awesome song the original is.

Based on what I've heard so far (I'm only half way through) I'm liking what I'm hearing. It doesn't have the same effect as the original or We love Katamari, as they were fresh to my ears. But the remixes are much better than I originally anticipated.

Some of them are fantastic, like Everlasting Love + You and Sayonara Rolling (Lonely?) Star. Others are just awful, like Do-Re-Mi Katamari and that flat, empty, toneless techno remix of Katamari Dancing.

I like it, I prefered all of the music in the menus in Beautiful katamari though.
I'm not so fond of the english language version of everlasting love which is one of my favourite songs from any of the games. I quite liek the remix one though.

way too silly :S

I actually find myself turning the sound up for both of this game's Everlasting Love versions. The one part that bugs me is the whispering. I thought that starting Everlasting Love out of You Are Smart was a cool surprise for people hearing this version for the first time, and it got even more previous katamari music into this game in some form.

There's so little BK music besides Dancing, a fact that may be a good thing, but I'm thrilled they nabbed Sayonara, the coolest BK music in my book.

Oh, there are a couple instrumental pieces that I think are just plain magnificent. I like the zoo stage more than ever due to Royal Academy. And the Sunbaked Savanna medley ... it even plays first in a stage with a school band to roll up, and it's apparently performed by a high school band!

edit: For a while I thought this game had no Que Sera Sera, but there's a bit of it in Sunbaked Savanna.

I would have liked a few more BK songs, Guru Guru Gravity, Into the Sky, and Danketsu come to mind. Though I am not sure how well a remix of Danketsu would be. >_>

i can tolerate one or two of the songs, in fact i like those one or two songs but the rest just don't feel like katamari. i can't remember what the one song reminded me. it was another game way on the opposite end of katamari on the video game spectrum.
Which two songs are they?

I'm just curious. :)

Fun fact: If you listen to the sound the Gramophone makes, you hear a bit of a remixed "Angel Rain"!

Unless it was like that in the other games...Speaking of which, I miss Angel Rain. Angel Rain + The harp glissandos in the flower level from WLK was magical.

I'm curious, but which Katamari game did Galactic S-O-U-L come from?

It doesn't ring a bell for me in any of the Katamari series.

:confused

I'm pretty sure it's a remix of Katamari Dancing from Beautiful Katamari ;)

It's so fab, We can't even stand it!

My favorites (if any) are: Katamari on the Swing remix, the song that plays on Make a Star 2 (Calories), and the Gin, Tonic, and Red Red Roses remix. Everything else is really bad. :|

I like it, mostly.

Standouts for me are:

* Everlasting Love + You - hands down biggest WOW track for me. After hearing the You Are Smart remix in the trailers I was resigned to that being the only 'remix' of it in the game - and since the tune HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH You Are Smart, it fell in the 'meh' category for me. When this started playing, I thought 'oh, cool, after all!' and then the dancey beat came in with Everlasting Love in the background and I drooled and such. I love a good mash up and these two tunes mash together perfectly. I've seen others criticise the English vocals... I can't understand them anyway so it all sounds more or less the same to me. :)

* Katamari on the Swing (SEXY-SYNTHESIZER ALL ABOUT namco Mix) - I cheated and heard this one on the website before playing the game. The song in its entirety is epic. Love the namco nostalgia.

* A Crimson Rose and a Gin Tonic (YMCK 8bit Mix) - this tune in the trailers is what got me excited for the remixes. It lost a lot of the wow factor by the time I actually played the game, but it's probably the best chip remix of any tune I've ever heard.

Honourable mentions go to:

* The Moon and The Prince (and LEOPALDON MIX) - a bit strange sounding a possibly in-your-face, but the old school flavour here is too charming to ignore. I hated music until the 90s and I discovered techno, so this stuff speaks to me.

* Katamari Dancing All Night - I hated Katamari Dancing (worst. theme tune. evar.), but this tune strikes me as something that is not abhorrent to listen to, so it deserves points for that alone.

Disgrace and horror goes to Bluffing Spirit (Refreshed by GUIRO). Being a muso I can not help but cringe every time I hear this track. And it seems to play really freaking often, too. The entire tune is just out of whack - the vocals and the melody are so out of tune together... I can appreciate the melodies they have tried to mesh in and the new take on the vocals as separate entities, but together they are just a tragic, horrible, bloodied mess. I can't imagine what Yu was thinking when he commissioned this one. I've also seen others say this is their favourite. I can only put it down to drugs. I just can't wrap my head around it...

All the others range from 'nice' to 'meh'. An average soundtrack overall with some excellent highlights. Still head and shoulders above the Beautiful Katamari soundtrack, which I thought was dismal (excepting maybe two or three tunes, max).
