http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari/ - KD http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/ - WLK http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/english/ - WLK guides translated into English (thanks, Yunomi!) I posted about this a bit in another topic, but this site definitely deserves its own discussion! This is a site, all in Japanese, where Yunomi has a bunch of KD and WLK guides. The first link is his KD page, with a lot of diameter and meteor guides. The second link is his amazing WLK page, which links to his guides of: http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/stg_ttrl.html - guide to 24cm0mm in Tutorial http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/stg_4.html - ALAP4 guide, discussing the same glitch ThumbsOfSteel discovered. I don't understand his exact method. He has gotten 30m16cm9mm. http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/stg_5.html - ALAP5 guide for 3636m http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/stg_pond.html - Underwater ALAP guide, all about the glitch to 2m10cm+ http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/stg_sumou.html - Sumo guide http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/stg_fire3.html - Campfire guide. He uses the same glitch we do, I think. http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/stg_snow.html - Snowman. I don't think he has discovered our glitch. http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/stg_50.html - 50-Item. His guide to 7m40cm with 37 items (I think) http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/note00.html Using presents to increase diameter, and affecting diameter by the order in which you get items (I think) http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/fan_app2.html - how the stages unlock http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/my_score.html - his records (¥23,140,758 in Pandas!) I've been wanting to find something like this FOREVER. I knew there were Japanese players out there who were exploring the boundaries of these levels, and discovering the games' secrets. Now we just need some translation! I think Foomin has studied some Japanese -- let's delegate him our Official Translator! Seriously, I want to be able to read all his stuff. Thanks for posting this, Slo_bro. |

Babelfish is my official translator! http://babelfish.yahoo.com/ Japanese to English, and there you go. I can read the hiragana, the katakana, and a few kanji, but I have no clue what most of it means, sadly. His scores are unbelievable! Without ThumbsOfSteel, though, he probably would not have figured out most of the glitches.

Hello! I'm a writer of that website. Slo_bro sent me an e-mail about this forum, and recommended me to post. I am really surprised that my website has gotten some acccesses from the US! Actually, I'm trying to translate one of my WLK pages into English. (./~yunomi/katamari2/english/index.html) But, ...I am not very good at English, so probably you cannot understand what I try to say ,sorry. |

That's awesome Thank you. I know matthew69 and FoominFan and myself are eager to read anything you want to translate.Your English is very easy for us to understand. Feel free to check out anything on this message board. For example, the section called "Katamari Database" includes many guides and videos, and the forums called "KD Hall of Fame" and "WLK Hall of Fame" include the many recent discoveries made by FoominFan and ThumbsOfSteel and others, and the scoreboards. http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/english/index.html - Yunomi's English-version WLK site. It includes his ALAP4 and Underwater strategies. In ALAP4, I read that you dash into the buildings above the fire station. Do you grab any of the buildings there beforehand, or do you dash into all of them at once? I haven't reached 30m10cm yet in that stage.edit:
Your time trial records sound very good to me! Edited by slo_bro, Oct 25 2009, 05:37 PM.

"In case I dashed to those buildings as diameter is 29cm84cm0mm, I don't know if it was maximum effection, but I could achieve 30m16cm9mm." @ Yunomi: Do you dash into just the two buildings, or do you leave other buildings in front of them? I've been trying to increase my 30m12cm7mm record lately.

At that time, I dashed into not only the two, but all of them. I always take this method in this stage, but my records are not stable. Sometimes I can make 30m10cm+, also 30m6cm or so. |

It was great when SloBro discovered your site, but now we get to welcome YOU to this board and chat with you, which is awesome. Yunomi, welcome! You said you were surprised by the activity of this board. It's true -- we LOVE the katamari games around here. And we love vix for running this site and giving us the space to discuss and share strategies and discoveries about all things katamari-related. I'm sure it's a little overwhelming to find this site -- there's so much information, and we link up to hundreds of videos too. Is there anything like this site in Japan? Which games have you played? Are you playing Katamari Forever? |

I finally got 30m15cm3mm in ALAP4 I think I had already picked up one of the buildings in the bunch (the front one if you are dashing such that the last buildings you get are the Stingray Buildings. I dashed at about 29m82cm. I'm still a bit off of Silent_Thunder's 30m15cm5mm, and quite a ways off Yunomi's diameter.

In case you're interested, Cyberscore ( http://www.cyberscore.net ) is another place where you could put up your scores like the Hall of Fame threads here, except Cyberscore is a little more formal. If you did put your scores up at Cyberscore, you may eventually be asked to prove some of them with photographs.

Those articles of mine were written in mostly 2005-06, and to tell the truth, I haven't played KD/WLK(I only have these two) for these a couple of years. ![]() But Slo_bro's e-mail and this borad inspire me to play them again! About my KD score: Sorry, because I haven't played KD for more than 3 years, I can't mention how I'd achive them. (Checking my KD data, it says "Last Updated 2006/09/24" ) I'll try again. To matthew69, Yes, I esteem Vix for managing this massive website! Well, when I was really into KD and WLK, I had been participated in a certain website of Japan. We'd used to discuss about score trial and time trial. However, this site has further topics, especially vast play videos!! Katamari Forever... I don't know that. Perhaps, it is sold in Japan as the name of "Katamari Tribute", which all the stages of KD/WLK/MMK/BK are playable, right? Unfortunately I haven't got PS3. To Slo_bro, I see, there is another scoreboard. But I'm afraid there might be some differences in game system between 2 softwares, JP ver and US ver. I mean, I don't know if the result is exactly the same to take the same method with JP/US version. I suppose I shouldn't post carelessly. If it seems that my scores make sense, I'd like to post ![]() (sorry. these 3 sentences are what I couldn't say in English well, could you catch me?) Edited by Yunomi, Oct 28 2009, 10:04 AM.

Yunomi, you don't need to worry about whether we can understand you. Your English is good Yes, "Katamari Forever" is the name that they've used for "Katamari Tribute" here in the U.S. It has SOME of the stages from SOME of the previous games (no MMK), as well as some new content. Cyberscore has players from all over the world, including Japan. And since KD games use the metric system, it doesn't matter what particular version of a game you're playing. The only issue might be WLK Panda, since your game system has yen and we have dollars. I can't think of any other potential problems. Of course you can also post your scores here. |

Myself, I've been having a whole lot of fun playing the US version of Katamari Damacy Tribute, known as Katamari Forever I too hadn't been playing katamari for a long time, but this game got me back into it, and when I learn something new in Tribute I like to go back to the previous games and see if I can use it to improve my scores ![]() Katamari Damacy Tribute has three stages from Katamari Damacy: Star 4, Star 8 and Moon. Katamari Damacy Tribute has many stages from We Love Katamari, including As Large As Possible 3, As Large As Possible 5, and well over half of the themed stages I think. Also in Katamari Damacy Tribute are several stages from Xbox 360's Beautiful Katamari, and three new stages. One fun feature is the online scoreboards where you can see how you rank against players all around the world. Basically every stage has changed slightly, like certain objects make the katamari grow slightly more than before or less than before, and there are other changes. I could tell you more about the game, but I don't want to spoil it, just in case you decide to try it some time. It is for Playstation 3.I don't think anyone would complain if you put your scores up on the scoreboards here or at Cyberscore. Some of us here have had Japanese versions of katamari games, and as far as we know there are no differences that would affect scores. Your scores are amazing but they are believeable, and they all sound possible if you know the game well enough. But if you don't want to post your scores, that's fine too we here at Katamari on the Web have already had the chance to see them.

His English guide for ALAP 5 is up. http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~yunomi/katamari2/english/stg_5.html Basically, catch the queen at 2730m, catch the flying king at around 3090m, and save the icebergs for last to get high 3636m or perhaps even 3637m. He seems to think that collecting disappearing items isn't as effective as in KD. |

I'm wondering what, if anything, ThumbsOfSteel has gleaned from Yunomi's guides, since he was recently able to better his stage 4 score. Regarding ALAP5, I've got to believe we're dealing with another glitch that no one has completely figured out, and that only Thumbs has stumbled upon (getting 3638+). But it's interesting that Yunomi basically discovered what SloBro and others figured out 2-3 years ago (the King flying, etc.). |

Yunomi, Welcome to the site! *** ALAP 4: I'll do my best to explain what happened. First, I started with Yunomi's guide. He says that dashing into all the buildings at 29m84cm0mm resulted in 30m16cm9mm. I tried dashing into almost all of the buildings at 29m84cm0mm. I basically ignored the building furthest from the stingray buildings. I was at the diagonal corner closest to the buildings, delicately balanced on the edge between the upper and lower highways. I tried to aim between the stingray buildings, and I got 30m16cm7mm this way by dashing at 29m84cm1mm. Dashing at 29m84cm0mm resulted in 30m16cm8mm. I kept trying to at least tie Yunomi's 30m16cm9mm. Results varied widely in my experience, just like Yunomi's research. I got 30m10cmXmm and 30m11cmXmm this way. I also got 30m3cmXmm, etc. While trying to get exactly 29m84cm0mm, I would often go over a bit due to a van or something hitting my katamari. When this happened, I would go into the water near the bridge to the Ferris wheel and dash into the bridge at the point nearest the Ferris wheel. The purpose of this was to knock items off my katamari until I was back to the proper size or just below it. Then I could add small items as needed and try the dash again. On one of those runs I accidentally rolled up an extra marlin building. This was after several cycles of getting exactly 29m84cm0mm, getting into position, getting something extra by mistake, knocking it off, etc. I was running out of time trying to knock items off, and I was about to restart. Then I figured, "What the heck?" and climbed up to dash again. I was at 29m87cm4mm when I dashed into all the buildings and... Boom! 30m18cm4mm. I tried several times to beat that score without success. I tried dashing at 29m87cm4mm and slightly higher diameters (29m87cm5mm, 29m88cm0mm, etc.), but I couldn't get it to work again. |

Yunomi's guide has helped to hand SilentThunder a Silver medal in Stage 5. Congrats. But Thumbs's 3638 stands out as evidence of some kind of, er, glitchery.... Thumbs (ALAP4): It's counterintuitive about dashing at slightly less diameter. But if I read you right, that's really not the point. The point is that you hit an extra building. Right? |

I can read the hiragana, the katakana, and a few kanji, but I have no clue what most of it means, sadly.
Without ThumbsOfSteel, though, he probably would not have figured out most of the glitches.
