Think about it now. A "tribute"? The "greatest hits"? These combined with the declining popularity of the series as it goes on, make me fear the worst. It just sounds all to much like Katamari Forever was the decided END of the Katamari series!! Wait... ? No. Not , more like...![]() There's probably been some other discussions about this, but I'd like to bring up the subject again. We're going on about a year after KF came out, and it seemed to me like a new game came out around every 2-3 years. Do you expect the series to go on? Or has the Prince finally run into an object so big, not even HE can roll it up!? |

i think the declining popularity was moving it from the ps2 to the 360. BK should have stayed multiconsole and KF should have been as well but it made little sense to basically republish the same game on the 360 again. There was definitely new interest to the series with it being on the ps3 again. But it never really sold well since the fans new it was a rehash. i just checked the database and as far as the NS releases...we've have a game in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2009. I didn't realize they were consecutive like that. IF we get a new game, I'd expect an announcement around the same time as KF's was last year...so that would be around March of next year. given that KF wasn't exactly well received and one would hope they started over and are making a new entry. two years between games seems about right. i would of course like the series to go on but it needs to be a new entry and it needs to be multiconsole. it was ok when it was the ps2 cause that was extremely popular at the time but those days are gone due in part to really pricey consoles and a shitty economy. people aren't buying everything like they used to so they need to get it out to as many audiences as they can. i keep hoping we'll get something. i guess we just have to wait and see. |

I'd have to say I agree with you luv.... KF contained alot of little sprinkles that led fans to believe it would be the last game of it's series. If KF is to be the last of it's kind, I will be extremely mad and irritated. KF left us with absolutely nothing other than the cousins made a bugged up robot.... If the katamari series were to end, I would expect something a whole lot more than the same series crammed into one game. To conclude my opinion I still think us rollers dont know crap about the queen yet Why should the katamari series come to an end only leaving us with more questions than we had answers?

There's a danish saying that goes "det er bedst at stoppe mens legen er god" (it's best to stop while the game is good, directly translated). I think that applies here. Katamari lost its feel around BK. I don't own that game, but I absolutely hate the BK levels in KF. I personally like KF, but if I were to see it from an objective viewpoint I can see that it's pretty darn weak. In many ways Katamari is like the Saw franchise. Only with Saw they're not done milking it. But IF they could get their act together and make a decent katamari game, I would be one happy-ass JW. sorry if I don't make sense. I just woke up |

Too hungry to read properly, but in my opinion: I hope the games continue even if I can't buy them all, and I love The Office! |

yeah I heard people say MMK would be the end and after BK was released I was almost positive it was over. But see, with this whole KDO thing I still think katamari has a chance

Just watch... in September 2011, there will be a new katamari game out for the PS3. That's my bet. |

Hm...I'd most likely buy a PS3 as my next console. But I think the next katamari game being on it exclusively might kill the franchise unless it's the greatest game ever. The next game needs to be multi-console. Or at least, I hope it is. And, of course, that there is a new game. (And that it's all/mostly new content.)

i would say that based on past releases...the next game would be a wii game. not one katamari game has been multi. kd - ps2 wlk - ps2 mmk - psp bk - 360 kf - ps3 ? - wii makes the most sense to me but i hope they would smarten up... Edited by vix, Aug 5 2010, 09:22 PM.

Ahem. I think the next katamari game will be on Wii as vix mentioned earlier. Has katamari reached its end? Without Takahashi, I think the series will end pretty soon. If Takahashi were to rejoin the team, it would totally revitalize the series, but unfortunately I doubt this will be the case. |

if there's anything we need to happen (besides a new game)...it has to be multiconsole. if takahashi came back, that would be awesome...but i would just be happy with a new game. new levels, new cousins, new music, etc. if it ended up wii only, i'd get it since i have a wii and it may reach a whole new audience of katamari folk but if it's gonna reach everyone, it needs to be multi. |

Actually I dont think it would be too bad on the wii so far as I can use the classic controller or GC....... It actually wouldn't be all that bad But yeah, put it on the 360/ps3 for sure if it's multiconsole lol... There is so much that could still be done! Why finish with a game with nothing new about it??!!

That would be great... but, I really don't think they will. We had two consecutive games on the PS2... why not two consecutive games on the PS3? As for 3DS... NO.

yeah, i don't think it will happen either...i think the wii game is more of a likelihood at this point sadly. and i doubt they would include classic control options since the motion is the wii's gimmick... but for all we know, the next one could be ps3 and be move enabled. or 360 and be kinect enabled. *sigh* |

What the hell is wrong with multiconsoles anyways. Do they really think everybody owns a ps3 and an xbox and a wii?! It doesn't even make sense from an economical point of view. A multiconsole game means that more people will buy it, which then means more money. And in the end, that's what they want, right? *confuzzled* Edited by JWtheMighty, Aug 6 2010, 01:34 PM.

yeah, it's not like it's a huge game series like mario or halo where it can go being on one console only. it's like they're afraid of money. if they made it for every console, they would reach a much wider audience. |

They are probably considering how much will return to them in profit.... It cost money to make a game for EVERY system and probably less for a single system. They are probably afraid of losing more money than making BUT STILL! Im almost positive they would make a profit off multiconsole... |

Not everyone has/can afford *coughmecough* a PS3. That's why I was wishing that KF would come out on the PS2. Speaking of which, some moron at GameStop was telling me that PS2 games are not being made anymore. As he was just a worker there trying to get you to buy the more expensive PS3 games, I brushed it off, because I knew that wasn't true. That same day, I had gone to Wal-Mart and saw several new PS2 games, one of which was Toy Story 3. Now don't tell me that they can't put out any PS3 katamari game on the PS2 as well. It's quite ridiculous that they don't. It's quite enraging. |
