So anything vaguely tennis related discuss it here, whether that be discussing the state of tennis itself, the latest tournaments going on, favourite players, least favourite players, player rumours & activity, fashion talk, talk of favourite past players & matches etc.

I so want to see a video of Flavia V the French Crowd because they are such cunts to everyone. Anyone happen to have that. BTW Mauresmo needs to retire, she's old and done in for and getting pathetic these days. Oh and Safina is a hot tranny mess in that photo! She's still the worst slam finalist ever.

I've always got a soft spot for Mauresmo, almost entirely for the fact that she has a single-handed backhand cos they are far too rare these days, but also I enjoy her general style of play. I was very happy for her when she actually managed to beat down those mental demons of hers for 5 minutes & actually win a couple of slams back in 06 but even I think it may time for her to bow out of the game. Her body has always been a bit frail, injury wise & seems to be getting worse through age & I can't ever see her getting back to top 10 status consistently these days. I always like former top players to go out when they are still fairly near the top of their game (perhaps only being able to play to top 20 standard rather than top 5) rather than drag it on for years, drop lower & lower down the rankings & knock away at all the good memories you had of them when they could compete at every tournament.

The Fed Cup is so pointless those Russians have it in the bag even without Sharapova and Safina who don't seem interested in it at all. Fair dues to Demented who loves playing the Fed Cup and nice to see that Momma Vera is up and about.

Sveta's even got her trusty pirate headband to compliment her Rafa-esque style. Maybe she's realised she can't be a hip-hop diva she'll be a gay pirate. On close inspection I like the blue one better the black one is a bit mid-west housewife which I know often looks like gay but in fact its just lazyness. If only Sveta's Rafa-pants would inspire her to Rafa like results.

I think that a good one handed backhand is the most beautiful thing to watch. I most people are picking the 2hbh because it's easier to learn and you can hit the ball harder sooner. With a 1hbh you need a stronger arm.

As this is the shot they grow up with it'll be the shot they use as a pro. It is a shame because it is a beautiful shot, seeing CSN hitting all those 1hbh was one of the highlights of the AO for me, too bad she's not a better player over-all.

Advanced Member Posts: 158 Group: Members Member #784 Joined: December 5, 2008	Well the 2 handed does tend to be more powerful (well more easily taught & powerful since you can get a very powerful single handed backhand if it's a good one) & it's easier in the sense of controlling the ball a bit more, especially when you're first learning the game as a kid. I just hope that the likes of Federer doing so well might just encourage the next genreration of tennis players (the ones who are now under 10 years old & just getting into it all) to learn true variety within their tennis game, work on the volley & a one handed backhand, the slice, drop shot, the all round game rather than just learning how to blast down a big serve & forehand. Back onto Sveta & her Rafagear, apparently in an interveiw at this Fed Cup meeting she was at pains to say it wasn't inspired by Rafa because she's a massive Federer fan...at least that's how it got translated.

Advanced Member Posts: 158 Group: Members Member #784 Joined: December 5, 2008	Well from the tiny comment I read that was translated from Russian she basically just said that she found skirts boring, wanted a change & liked the pirate/knee length shorts, but that she didn't copy Rafa because she only supports Roger (apparently the Russian media are a bit excited by this latest bit of fashion news, they expected a very dull, easily won Fed Cup meeting with an understrength Chinese team, which they got, so a little bit of fashion talk made it more interesting for them apparently.)

She's right though, skirts do get boring all the time. It's actually why I quite liked when Sharapova did that tuxedo outfit, I mean it was ugly as sin but I liked that it was different. Oh and on a board dying via registration note, I'm happy being registered if only for the ability to use the edit button!
