"Well done," the empty praise of an empty man quietly drifted into the empty air. Elsewhere, miles away, another man just as hollow sat shrouded in the gloom of a darkened hole of an establishment, the fading rays of the setting sun shooting beams of light through planks of wood. The dog in the dank place quietly and obediently listened to its master, his words carried on the air currents to his ears.

"I expected nothing less, my child. However, it all pales in comparison to your next assignment. Are you ready for something bigger? I must have your confidence first."

Silence closed in the lines of communication for a short moment before a solemn and quiet, "You have my confidence," was uttered back.

"Yes, of course. I know you understand the gravity of your duties. Failing is never an option." Nor is saying 'no' really...

"In any case, Anonymous, I am having a courier bring you a location. Be there tonight at midnight for further instructions. I assume I do not have to tell you to be discreet."

"No, Sir."

"Alright. That is all."

To anyone else unschooled in the ways of air magic, it would seem as if the hooded stranger had been speaking to himself. However, in such a long-abandoned place, it would be very rare to be stumbled upon, and even rarer for someone to be blindly exploring the lower level.

Midnight came and went. Business was conducted thoroughly and without incident. Night became morning, and the soldier dog approached the intimidating doors of the monumental Gongora Palace, vulnerably unhooded in the bright sun. Except now his name was William Casto.

"Casto, reporting for duty," he saluted the King's head of security, and received a replied salute within the walls of the palace, in the corridors off-limits to most. "You have been relieved of your post."

The aged senior soldier's hand dropped back down to his side and he nodded. "You have already been briefed on your duties. It's really a boring job most of the time, but a good one. Take care of the King and good luck to you, Casto."

"You as well. Have a good retirement. I hear the women off of the west coast are very fine."

The old man chuckled and nodded, "Yes, that is what I hear as well. Goodbye." The now retired head of security for the king took what he had and left then. Casto took his seat and reclined back, glancing around at his new office.

Hours later, he was scheduled to finally meet the King. Adorning himself in uniform, he headed towards the throne room and obediently parked himself just outside, waiting to hear his introduction.
