While the chaos below the ground continued to erupt, Maximillian along with several members of the Royal Intrepid Gentlemen's Club and a host of Mages from the Academy boarded all available airships and took to the skies. The High Lord of Nautilla knew that a fight with the beast on the ground would not go well if they did not employ tactics and such. Fighting on the ground would exhaust most of the people. The mages he brought specialized in sealing techniques. The host of ships gathered at a few moments notice were indeed incredible and it darkened the parade grounds. People were swarming like ants in disarray and every moment that past spelled greater casualties and disaster. Below, Maximillian surveyed that everyone who were engaging the monster were holding out but it would not last long. The Duke saw this type of monster before several years ago during his travels and as long as panic ensued it would feed on the emotions of every creature. It will continue to grow stronger and stronger every moment that pass and the people below did not know anything that their basic emotions and feelings. Swords and magic will not be of use once this abomination would gain enough footing. It was only to the few brave souls keeping the beast at bay that this event did not go astray. He also noticed that that several high ranking magic nobles calculated wrong and hitting the monster with useless spells. They mistook the monster for something. How quaint. What could have... No who could have done such a thing. The beast noticed the airships up above, and in an instant reacted in an instant, sending fire from its mouth hitting a few ships which miraculously stayed afloat even though the damage was great. Maximillian sent a signal to the other ships and their captains to let the first batch of mages to concentrate a barrier spell. The barrier spell was the first step. Aboard the Beautiful Crone, were several foreign Inquisitors. They specialized in Void magic. The plan was crude but it was the most effective in dealing with particular problem. He had seen several tribes from the Hintherlands do this with effect during his travels and it was worth the risk to use it now. The only problem would be the government's native imperturbability. Void magic to a historian like Maximillian, was not always viewed as such. Every mage, wizards and warlocks atop the ships above cast the first barrier spell. Maximillian gave a few orders to the first mate and sent the last messages to the other captains to continue the spell. Then he jumped to continue the job below. Free-falling down below he took a small machine and fired a hook at the highest steeple of one of the towers and made his way down back to the fray. The beast now was sealed but the bubble would not last long. Then the duke at the top of his voice ordered all capable to charge up on their spells and concentrate on hitting the beast on the inside. It was similar to an implosion. He explained this to a few high ranking mages and asked them to spread the word. This had better work, Maximillian though... or else Istria would have no choice but to level the Parade grounds. |
