The Five Schools of Magic

Air, Fire, Water, Earth

&

The Void

In the world of Legend Makers there are 5 main magic types: Air, Fire, Water, Earth and The Void. Each magic is cast in a different way and is produced by different means. If you wish to be a spell caster of some kind, it’s important to read this topic before beginning work on a character.

How Magic is produced

On Legend Makers when a spell is cast, something is taken away from the surrounding environment, apart from when casting Void Magic, but I will go into further detail about that later. If you were to cast an Earth spell (possibly a spell giving the user the ability to communicate with animals for a time). Something would be taken from the surrounding earth. Such as when casting a spell some of the surrounding earth and plant life may begin to vanish/ possibly die.

The more powerful the attack the more environment change/damage.

In relation to this, spell casters should be aware of the effect of their spells on the surrounding area, such as a spell caster may cast a powerful air spell and find themselves fainting due to the surrounded air becoming very thin.

If you need a few examples of effect spell could have on the environment I have produced a short list of a few:

Air spells effects on Environment:

Air becoming thin, lowering ability to focus
Dizzy or fainting spells due to thin air
Heavy coughing

Fire spells Effects on Environment:

Sudden drop in surrounding temperature
Chills due to heat lose from the flesh
Painful breathing due to air temperature.

Water spells Effects on Environment:

Problems speaking due to dry throat
Tightness of skin due to lack of moisture
Wariness due to dehydration.

Earth spells Effects on Environment:

Death of surrounding plant life
Fleeing of surrounding wildlife
Hunger/sickness due to content of casters stomach is removed due to spell

When it comes to the Void, spell casting is very different. Due to the kinds of spells and the effects it has upon the user, Void magic is an illegal practice (but you can play it if you like). Like the other schools of magic, spells take something away in order to happen, but when it comes to the Void, the magic take it’s energy directly from the user.

The most common effect of casting Void magic is boils and pustules appearing on the flesh. This can leave the caster disfigured if the use of the magic is used to often. As well as this a lack of energy, illness and wariness can follow after spell casting.

So far you most likely thinking having a partly disfigured character isn’t really worth it when your character will only be able to tamper with the dark arts a bit but we have a few extra’s for you Void users.

Unlike the other School of Magic, Void magic can be mixed with another school of Magic. By doing so a spell caster can produce far more powerful spells at the sacrifice of their own looks. As well as this its been known that Void spell casters seem to be able to pick up spells from the others schools a lot faster than other spell casters (some spells might take normal spell casters years to master, while a Void spell caster may take weeks).

Now your most likely wondering how many schools of magic can a character can be talented in. Well your character can study 1, 2, or 3. When making your character, on the template there will be a small chart to fill out (Nothing big don’t worry) where you will have 10 points. With these 10 points you can list how powerful your character is in the different schools, but make sure to remember when first making a character you can only spread your points between 3 schools max.

As time goes on we will be giving out a few more points to members in reward for activity in order to improve their characters magical abilities.

If you wish to see what spell types will be available for your characters take a glace at these topics:

If you have any ideas for new spells types, Pm them to me and you might just be rewarded with a few more points for your characters.
