Terebori The following is a brief expansion of what the Terebori are like and a brief bit of history on them: Created by: Varetine den'Atoni Name: Terebori (Te-re-boree) Life Span: 70 years – Youth lasts from birth to the age of 14 at which the children are then considered adults. Average Height: Terebori are short creatures, their average height comes to about 4’5” the tallest recorded Terebori came up to 5’2”. Average Build: Terebori have a very sinewy build, it’s very rare to find a Terebori that looks muscled, same goes for voluptuous females. Even for their size, everything gives the impression of length, long arms, long legs, a long torso. Most Terebori carry themselves in a backwards slouch. Overall Appearance: Terebori are amphibious in form, with the slick skin of a frog, and webbed feet and hands. Youth are very light and dull in color and as they age become more brilliantly colored. Elders and the old are very dark in color, and only a few become black in color. The jet black color has been fabled to allow the Terebori to live forever, although there has yet to be one that managed the ideal color, it’s only a myth. Terebori have round eyes and faces, with a slitted nose and a Romanesque profile. They don’t have ears, but instead have holes on the side of their head. Their skin color can be anything as can their eye and hair color, normally they would be born natural brown, green and gray colors, sometimes a murky blue, and become more colorful as they age. Children with colorful skin such as pink or violet are known to have a gene disorder that causes that. Although amphibious in nature, Terebori are warm-blooded and give live birth. Overall Personality: Terebori are a family orientated race. Their hierarchy consists of different ranges of respect which can be earned with both age and experience. Families are often big and close knit groups. They have a head for commerce many of them, and are known to be expressive hagglers. The race used to be trade and barter oriented until coming to life in the city. The Terebori as a whole are a very open race, to an outsider they seem to have little prejudices, and always come to conclusions after they’re provided with information. With a Terebori you have to worry little about first impressions. Strengths: Due to their amphibious nature most Terebori can breathe and live underwater, which means they can swim well. Commerce and mercantilism is often a family business and many Terebori carry good wares with good bargains. Those with the MDV do not need to breathe to live, taking away their susceptibility to airborne viruses. Weaknesses: About 1/3 of the Terebori population is susceptible to a Marrow Deficiency Virus or MDV that seems to plague them. They go through a very painful process of change. The virus does not actually attack the marrow, but the bone structure, causing the webs in the bone to close up. This constriction does not allow the red blood cells that the marrow creates to exit into the blood stream. The marrow drowns in red blood cells and stops being created as the bones become solid. Essentially this causes the infected Terebori to suffocate slowly. Lucky very few of these Terebori actually die due to a genetic failsafe most Terebori have. The survivors are granted life without the need to breathe. These Terebori have blood that’s straw colored due to a lack of hemoglobin and red blood cells. The price of this, beside the months suffocating and pain is that these Terebori become sterile and have a nutrition problem that causes them to require a large number of iron and magnesium supplements. Many also suffer bone problems, due to the unnatural density of their bones. Aside from that, their openness as a race opens many to gullibility, and so many are far too trusting for their own good. This gullibility does not extend to their selling practices which is something they take too seriously. Natural School Of Magic: As amphibious creatures many Terebori learn water magic. It's known as a hobby among their society, neither encouraged or discouraged. |
