The building stood before her, like pretty much everything else it was huge. Everything was huge. She felt a little like a bug. But she'd finally found it, what with all the mess's recently. The Explosion at the funereal, now that was something. It's a wonder she wade it out with only a sprained nose. Course as precaution she now had a small piece of white tape on her nose. The nurse that frequented a pub she did had told her it would help, there was some healing salve on it. Not Valentine's own, making it would probably end up with her house exploding, a wonder since it was water magic. She fumbled through her well worn cloak for the scroll that had been given to her by Maximillian that day at the docks. She found it in the back pocket. She still hadn't opened it, probably wouldn't should the wrath of whomever come down on her. But, it would be better not to stand outside, waiting for something to happen. She went inside, pulling the heavy door open and slipping through it before it closed on her. Inside was equally big, as a rule it seemed tall official buildings neglected to have a second story at least for the first room. The ceiling was very high up, she got vertigo just glancing at it, better not then. Of course, finding the building, and getting the paper into the hands of whoever it was supposed to get to were two completely different tasks and it seemed she had no idea where to go or who to talk to. There didn't seem to be anyone resembling a receptionist in this room. Bugger. |

Inside the large anterooms in the seventh level of the Guildhouse two elderly bespectacled men dressed in bright olive green coats and a large man in monocles were in the process of trying to unlock something from a large oak chest. "Methinks this is simpler that it is." the small man turned to the monocled individual who was now sipping his afternoon tea. "Simpler it is we think so sir." Followed the other one. "Very let's try to pry it its secrets old chaps, for if your guess is right you might be looking at a new map and a new continent for us to explore." concurred the monocled man. "Now let's get cracking shall we?" The two men went scurrying for several tools and flask with speed and it amazed the monocled man how they managed to find all their stuff beneath tons and tons of books, tomes, papers and all the other things that lay scattered inside the the anteroom. Before he could drain his cup, his companions were already mixing a few stuff while scribbling hastily unto a piece of parchment a few notes where which to the monocled man looked unintelligible given the haste the two men wrote it. "Done!" cried the small bespectacled man. "Finished" echoed the other. "So what is we need to do eh gentlemen?" inquired the man with the monocle, with his eyebrows raised. "Simple! We just..." "mix and..." The only thing that happened next was a loud deafening noise followed by a rather curious explosion and the smell of bad eggs in summer. |

Well seeing as standing about in the entry hall was not so much in Varetine's mind at the moment, and for sure she wanted to get somewhere with this, so when the bang echoed through the ceiling space to her left, the first thing she did was head toward the stairs. The air on the first three floors were clear of any sort of haze or smoke, if the explosion had caused any at all, but the stench permeated the stairwell even in those floors. Climbing upwards the smell got stronger and stronger, and she waved her hand in front of her nose, trying to get it to dissipate just a little. The next few floors were stronger, getting up to the seventh. And the Stench made her eyes water, she had to stop every once in a while to wipe the water from her eyes. But otherwise it was easy going. She passed the seventh floor, and the stench seemed to weaken, it seemed to be heavier than the air itself, heading towards the lower floors. "Well now it's obvious where it came from", She said to herself entering the seventh floor halls. A little bit down the way was a door that was a little more yellow than the others, or maybe it was the smell, again messing with her eyes. She stopped once again, wiping her eyes with the sleeve of her blouse, and crept up on the door, as if it were some sort of horrible monster she couldn't have recognize her. Grabbing the handle she opened it, and peered inside, only to find two baffled old men inside, One the obvious shape of someone she knew. "Well," She said, sort of hoping she hadn't intruded on something, and with a finished tone. She hoped that would be the last she smelled of this stench, but at the same time she knew she was getting directly into this line of work and was for some reason looking forward to it. Unless of course she was completely wrong, at which point she would blush, walk out of the room, and go and check the sign on the buildings. Hopefully the alchemists were not back in town. |

Taking a two old men under his arms and rushing towards the door, Maximillian's eyes noticed for a moment a small figure. It was in the shape of the small Teriborean figure. Running as fast as he can towards the exit and in one fluid motion, scooped up the Teribori and rushed towards the balcony with two small old bespectacled men under his arm and a Teribori in his shoulder. Gaining momentum the Duke rushed towards the balcony and leaped towards the other side just before a large resounding crash came from the room he was previously in and with another large resounding crack a large burly behemoth rhinocerean came hurtling down the room. "Everyone, we got another one! Fourth one this month!" Maximillian happiy shouting to the people inside the hall who immediately scampered towards the higher embankment of the building's premises. "Well. if isn't young Master Varetine!" Maximillian taking notice of the persona of the small Teribori who he happened to pick up before the beast who was now following him, charging and destroying a few crates and bookcases. "What brings you to the this most august...er...hall young master? Taking up my offer? Hold on! Were going to contain this beast first!" "Arthur L' Morte!" Maximillian shouting as he raced past and jumped towards bookshelf to bookshelf and from balcony to balcony. "Ready the containment spells! Let's see if its better than last time!" |
