Club Constitution


Article I - Name

1. The name of this Organization shall be the Macomb Community College Comedy Players Club. It shall be recognized up on the approval of the Student Activities.

1.A. The Macomb Community College Comedy Players Club shall be referred to as "The Comedy Club".


Article II - Purpose

1. The purpose of this Organization shall be: To provide an opportunity for members of the community, who have an interest in comedy, to come together as a group in a relaxed, enjoyable, and safe atmosphere to develop and strengthen their comedic styles and to perform a variety of shows for the community.


Article III - Membership

1. Membership is open to Macomb Community College students, alumni, and interested members of the community.

2. The club does not require membership dues in order for a membership to become active.

3. The Organization is constituted of at least five (5) current members in good standing as specified in Article III.2.

4. Each individual member shall be entitled to the rights and privileges of this organization; however, only Active Members may vote. Each Active Member shall be entitled to one vote on each matter submitted to vote of the membership. A majority vote shall prevail.

4.A. An Active Member shall be someone who attends one (1) meeting a week for two consecutive weeks.

4.B. A member may miss 2 weeks of meetings before said member loses their "Active" status in the club. In order to regain active status, the member must attend one (1) meeting a week for two consecutive weeks.


Article IV - Officers

1. The officers of this organization, each of whom must be currently an Active Member in the club, shall be President, Vice-president, Secretary, and Treasurer. The office of Secretary and Treasurer may be held by the same member.

2. The duties of the officers shall be as follows:

2.1. The President shall:

A. Serve as the presiding officer of the organization.
B. Act as the representative of the organization to the public.
C. Serve as a liaison to the College.
D. Make appointments if necessary to fill vacancies in offices and the Executive Board.
E. Call special Executive Board meetings when necessary.
F. Appoint committee chairpersons as necessary.

2.2. The Vice-president shall

A. Assist the President
B. Preside in the absence of the President

2.3. The Secretary shall

A. Record, distribute, and maintain the minutes for all meetings.
B. Maintain meeting attendance records.
C. Assist the President in preparing the meeting agenda.
D. Maintain all correspondence.
E. Maintain all necessary organization records.
F. Maintain a directory of members which shall contain at least their name, address, title, and phone number.

2.4. The Treasurer shall

A. Be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the budget, including an annual report to the membership.
B. Maintain proper financial records with the Student Activities Office.

3. Officers shall serve a term of a 1 semester term or until their successors have been duly elected and installed. In the event the office President becomes vacant, the Vice-president shall succeed to office. If a vacancy occurs in any other office, the President shall have the power to make an appointment to fill the remaining term. The Executive Board may veto any appointment with a two thirds vote.


Article V - Meetings

1. The organization shall conduct at least one meeting per month. There shall be two weeks minimum written notice of a meeting.

2. The Executive Board shall conduct at least one meeting per month.

3. The Officers shall conduct at least two meetings per month.

Article VI - Removal of Officers

1. A petition for the removal of officers shall be written and circulated for signatures, outlining the reported grievances. Upon securing signatures of one-third of the Active Members, a special meeting shall be called. A minimum notice of two weeks shall be given for the special meeting. Approval of two-thirds is required to remove an officer.

Article VII - Constitutional Amendments

1. Any member may propose an amendment to the Club Constitution. All proposed revisions shall be submitted one month in advance of the vote.

2. Approval of two-thirds of the membership is required to amend the Club Constitution.

I edited the constitution so that it is the copy that was resubmitted to SAC for approval.
