I'm really glad that you aren't intending to rebuild any of the existing Hudswell-Clarke engines ... tad concerned that your never-say-never might apply though :(

To liken the action to that of the BVR is to miss several very big points, one of which has been dealt with by DGH already, including the fact that it was the intention when Tracy-Jo was built that she would be able to become a true steamer at some point. If you want to see live-steam miniature Gresley locomotives go to the RHDR which has been running them for eighty years! Part of the joy of the NBR, PBR, Golden Acre and Butlins locos is that they aren't actually steam ... I can't really explain why that is because I love steam locos and their sounds/smells etc.

As for the plan to build a NG steam loco ... sorry it doesn't tick any boxes for me at all ... there are a number of places where I can ride behind similar size NG engines but the places where I can ride behind large scale miniature locos are few and far between. Now if you were to suggest building a 20" Baltic along the lines of Robin Hood then I would happily sign-up to send my £10.00/month :)

Nick

PS

Is my favourite loco back in service yet? I have been holding off on a visit so as to hopefully catch her in service.
