The Events list is certainly something we are looking to do. I tried (unsuccessfully really) to do one this summer, but a proper attempt at one with a definite structure is certainly being considered. However, this section would be heavily modded and would require members to notify the Staff of upcoming events; the Staff then posting the event in the list, and a separate thread for its discussion made in the relevant Forum. I also find your view on splitting railways by region rather than gauge interesting, certainly something for discussion there.
