Only just picked up on this. I drove it occasionally during it's time at Cleethorpes. It had a very small and narrow firebox and was really a bit too small for the length of the line. If you started a run with anything less than a full head of steam and a good boilerful of water you'd be in trouble. If you shut the regulator you put the blower straight on to keep it on the boil. Quite a challenge really, but I feel lucky to have had the chance to experience it. Mike |
