Hello folks it's Black Thunder here. I was just wanting to know if any of you have any pictures or videos of Joe brown's Baby Deltic No D5902 running at either Carnforth or Cleethorpes, before we at Markeaton got our grubby mit's on it and completely rebuilt it. I'm sure you've all seen the photo Colin took the other day of it parked outside the shed. For those of you interested in what we did to it, we extended the frames lengthways and sideways, we built a new body for it, made it taller, renumbered it to D5905 and called it ' CITY OF DERBY '. Anyway if any of you can help i would be grateful :) . Cheers, Michael, MPLR.

If you go on Colin's Fotopic site theres one or two pictures of D5905 on there. On the latest set of pictures the loco is parked outside the shed. Enjoy, Michael, MPLR.

I *do* like this loco. There aren't very many 'real' looking 15" gauge modern-image locos around. There's the one at Bressingham, Southport 'Western', BVR's bo-bo 'thing' (which looks rather like a Hymek/Western built for export at one end - so it's not really a scale model or a caricature of one)... I can't think of many more. Craig's new 0-4-0 Wisbech style shunter. No doubt someone else will remind me of another!

I must say I prefered it with its original proportions!

The only one I can add Tim is Joe Browns other loco at Bressingham, based on a class 22. Then the DZR / Sutton railcar.

By far the most spectacular in my opinion is the 1/3rd scale Belgian loco built by Severn Lamb, seen here (picture from SL's website)

Something I'll one day manage with a UK based prototype!

By ek that looks a nice little beast :) I must admit i think it may have been left in it's original size if we had a lightly smaller steam engine. The idea behind its rebuild was to make it match in with the Exmoor carriages. As for scale modern image loco's in 15" i suppose there is Douglas Ferreira up at Ravenglass, it aint quite a spot on replica but it does have the looks of a Class 66. I wouldnt mind a replica of a Class 25 to go with City of Derby, i think the two would go well together :P Or a warship :lol Any suggestions Craig?

Cheers,
Michael

Photo - no, but I remember driving it at Cleethorpes one day when the entire dash panel with most of the controls on it collapsed into my lap just as we were entering the old Lakeside station. I had my brother with me in the cab and the two of us were scrambling around to get it all under control before we ended up colliding with a stationary leisure centre.

Later that day we were stood next to it on the platform when the top hose exploded showering everyone with hot brown water. I think that was the last time I drove D5902, but I certainly remember it....
