Whilst in West Yorkshire on Saturday we called in at Saville's Garden Centre in Garforth to see if there was any sign that the line had been in use since Peter visited earlier in the year.

It was very wet, and in places the line was under water! Sadly the railway did not appear to have operated for some time....

It would be a shame to think they had just given up running the railway :( , it looks such a pleasent little line. On the up side nice photos Colin.

I've occasionally had bad thoughts about anglicising a Rio. Well, colonialising it, akin to the large locos exported to Africa in the early 20th century. They don't do it for me as a USA loco... But with some butchering it could be something weirdly unusual. There are lots of unaltered Rios around anyway. Did you ask the staff what had happened to the line and what the plans are?

Has anyone found out any more information as to whats happening to the railway? Although i've never been on this railway i think it would be a great loss to the miniature railway world, and the 10.25" realm if it was to close down.

It might be worth writing to the centre management to ask them. If it is closing down, then at the very least it might be worth asking if we could organise some sort of farewell gala, with live steam...

Called in at Savilles today and the railway was in full operation. The Rio looked to be in failry good fettle and well cared for, the coaches were looking a bit grotty though. The website says the railway operates at weekends however looking at the railhead it looks to be operating pretty regularly as it was well polished, though it all looked abit Tallylyn 1950s style!

When I used to visit the garden centre as a child the railway while operating would only operate a few times an hour around the drivers tea time however it seemed to be running on demand, I was only there 20 - 25 mins and they ran three trips.

Forgot my camera so no pictures I am afraid but at least it seems the railway is still operating and appears to be doing reasonably well for a quiet early morning in school holidays.

I called in on the railway on Tuesday, and although the sign on the front of the loco said operation Tuesday - Thursday in the school term, plus weekends, it was not running on this occasion, due to the very misty and wet weather!

The situation was pretty much as in the photos from Colin above, but it is good to know it is running still.
