Visit to the North Bay Railway on the 1st of January, seems to now be a tradition, last year, it was also the first line I went on.

'Robin Hood' is my personal favourite out of the fleet at North Bay, so was pleased to hear that it would be running when I visited.

Got there for the 12:30pm train, and was invited onto the footplate by, driver for the day, and manager, DGH for two return trips on the line. Despite the very cold weather was great fun, and was great to see the loco in action. The new closed coaches are certainly popular, though a few brave people sat in the open coaches!

The new bistro/cafe and ticket office/shop were both very busy. Had a meal in the Glass House, which was excellent, well reccomended.

The engine shed has been painted since my last visit, and fits in well. Triton was brought on for the 2pm train.

Many thanks to DGH and staff for a great day out!

Here are some of my photos from the day.

Very nice peter. David i cannot remember but is there something in the smokebox on robin hood? ( No sarcastic comments anyone )

Callum
Your train is cancelled due to the lack of the tea can on the footplate.

On the North Bay locomotives, I do like those extended mainframes with lifting hooks.

I had not noticed them before.

I can think of one or two engines that would benefit from have a similar arrangement. :P

From memory, there isnt much inside the smokebox but the exhaust. Lovely loco and railway, would'nt mind going back over some time.

However i dont like half of the motion being black while the other half is red.

Its my engine, I'll have the motion how I like it!!!

Seriously, we are stripping off the paint on the motion and to date have only tackled the easy parts.

The aim is to have all the wheel rims and mothin on both Robin Hood and Poseidon back to the steel.

oh cool, i wouldnt mind coming down and helping out for a few days, but, we stay in a caravan, and usually, we only stay in brid, so, i would only come for a day, but wouldnt mind a few trips on footplate, or maybe a day like, helping driver out etc, because it seems a nice line

Cheers
