Must admit that despite living in Morecambe, I don't know what happenend to it and would like to find out. Im not sure if it wasn't dismantled for overhaul but never put back together or scrapped. I know it wasn't the best machine in the world, indeed I remember the engine often stalled on starting, having to be really revved to get the train moving! The machine that runs on the line at the moment is the total rebuild of the intercity 125 like engine that ran on the line from the early 80's.

The S/O locomotive that used to run here, built by E.Sharpe, is now scrapped.

I think I read somewhere that the line did once have a steam loco. The line at the West End was also 10 1/4 and the locos came from a line in Maryport. One was an American outline Bo-Bo diesel, the other an 0-6-0 Petrol Hydraulic steam outline loco, there were 2 open coaches. There was a steam loco as well, although that never got near the line, I think it was kept at the council depot needing boiler work.

All I know is that it was a 0-4-0ST loco named Firefly, built by R Yates in 1992 (this was taken from the 2nd edition of ABC miniature railways, year 2000

That loco was sold through Engineers Emporium some years back and then passed through Station Road Steam i think. A horrible loco, it had a gas fired flash steam boiler as built but never ran at Morecambe.

Can be seen in Station Road Steam's Archive here http://www.stationroadsteam.com/stock%20pages/3198/index.htm

I have a small steam whistle;bought many years ago from a dealer in steam and engine 'junk'; he alleged at the time that 'it was from the steam engine that was at happy mount park, now scrapped'.This may ,of course, have been total b/s,but food for thought?

its not that bad ,apart from being rusty, and the valve gear sticking out,and a strange boiler, and the cab being made from the car park attendant's hut......nice reversing lever though!
